クレジットカード会社のオフィス内装計画である。 柱や家具にビビットな色彩を点在させ、意図的にランダムな配置を施した。 採用した色の多くは特注の蛍光色だ。蛍光塗料は紫外線を可視光へと変換し強く反射する特性をもつため、空間内の遠近感をわずかに狂わせる効果がある。さらにミラーをはじめとする反射素材を多用することで視線を奥へと導き、実寸を超えた広がりを知覚させることを企図した。これは、施主ヒアリングにおいて示された「欧米のオフィスのような伸びやかな空間を実現したい」という要望を、空間的操作として翻訳したものである。
一方、我々が設計に関わった時点で、ゼネコンによる設計施工の建築工事はすでに進行していた。加えて本計画は避難安全検証法を用いた設計であり、骨格に関わる変更は工期遅延に直結することが明白であった。さらに立地は銀座である。地区計画により最高高さ48m、容積率700％という厳格な規制が課されている。今回は、屋内的公共空間を設けることで容積率の1割緩和を得た計画であるが、その代償として各階の階高は圧縮されている。 加えて、FFEを含む内装工事費は坪単価30万円未満という条件が提示され、当初想定していた半額以下の予算規模であった。
我々にできることは何か。 建築工事を担うゼネコンに協力を仰ぎ、養生の範囲に至るまで詳細に調整を重ね、既定の仕様を骨の髄までしゃぶり尽くすように見直した。仕上げには塗装を要さない素地材を積極的に採用し、内装工事範囲を最小化することで工程を滑らかに接続させた。この変更は結果として工期短縮にも繋がっている。
空間に散りばめられたカラフルな色彩は、施主企業の社是である「多様性」の空間的表現である。 家具選定もまた同様に、1脚1,900円の屋台スツールからKnollやCassinaに至るまで、価格帯も背景も異なるプロダクトを混在させた。 玉石混交の構成のなかに多様な価値観が同居しながら、その緊張関係から生まれる新たな調和を空間に定着させる試みである。

An Office of Diversity Painted in Color
This is an interior design plan for a credit card company’s office. Vibrant colors are scattered across pillars and furniture, arranged intentionally in a random pattern. Many of the colors used are custom-made fluorescent hues. Fluorescent paint converts ultraviolet light into visible light and strongly reflects it, creating an effect that slightly distorts the sense of depth in the space. Furthermore, by extensively using reflective materials, including mirrors, the design aims to guide the gaze deeper into the space, creating a perception of expansiveness beyond its actual dimensions. This translates the client’s request, expressed during consultations, to “create an expansive space reminiscent of Western offices” into spatial manipulation.
Meanwhile, when we became involved in the design, the general contractor’s construction was already underway. Furthermore, this project employed a design based on the Evacuation Safety Verification Law, making it clear that any structural changes would directly cause delays. Furthermore, the location is Ginza. Strict regulations imposed by the district plan limit the maximum height to 48m and the floor area ratio to 700%. While this project secured a 10% relaxation of the floor area ratio by incorporating indoor public spaces, the trade-off was compressed floor heights on each level. Additionally, the budget for interior work, including FFE, was set at less than ¥300,000 per tsubo (approx. 3.3m²), less than half the originally anticipated budget.
What could we do? We sought cooperation from the general contractor responsible for the construction work, meticulously coordinating down to the scope of protective measures, and thoroughly reexamining the specified requirements to squeeze every last drop of efficiency. We actively adopted unfinished materials that required no painting for finishes and minimized the scope of interior work to ensure a smooth workflow. This change ultimately also led to a shorter construction period.
The colorful hues scattered throughout the space are a spatial expression of the client company’s corporate philosophy: “Diversity.” Similarly, the furniture selection blended products from vastly different price points and backgrounds, ranging from a 1,900-yen street-stall stool to pieces by Knoll and Cassina. It is an attempt to establish a new harmony within the space, born of the tension between diverse values coexisting in this mixed composition.
