クライアントであるESR株式会社は、「HUMAN CENTRIC DESIGN.」を企業理念に掲げ、大型物流施設を数多く開発・運営する物流不動産会社である。快適な職場環境の創出を通じて、テナントや地域社会に長期的な価値を提供することを目指している。
本計画は、横浜市の三菱重工業工場跡地（約33万m²）で進められてきた大規模物流施設開発の第三期プロジェクトである。タカトタマガミデザインは、第1期・第2期に続き、ファサードデザインおよび共用部の内装デザインを担当した。
隣接するDC1（第1期工事「ディストリビューションセンター1」／2022年完成）と同様に、本計画では「物流」の躍動感を表現するリボン状の装飾をファサードに採用した。このモチーフには、港湾立地を象徴する「波」や「風」のメタファーが込められている。DC1では柔らかなひねりによって表現したのに対し、DC3（ディストリビューションセンター3）ではエッジの効いた折りによって構成することで、共通のコンセプトのもとに異なる表情を与えた。対をなして並び立つDC1とDC3は、まるで「阿吽の像」のように、訪れる人々を迎え入れるゲートとして機能している。
R: Lounge Eastは、建物北東側の最上階に設けられた多角形のガラス空間であり、東京湾を一望できる休憩ラウンジである。岸壁に近接した立地を活かし、まるで大型客船に乗っているかのような体験を生み出している。造作カウンターやベンチには海面の波と呼応する流動的な動きを与え、自然とのつながりを感じられる寛ぎの空間とした。
R: Lounge Westは、長手方向をDC1側に向けて配置し、その先に富士山を望む構成としている。また、敷地内の緑地帯「金沢の森」を見下ろす位置にあり、森で遊ぶ子どもたちの姿を眺めることもできる。天井にはファサードのリボンモチーフを反映し、雲がたなびくような形状を採用した。高さに変化を与えることで、多様な居場所と豊かな空間体験を創出している。
託児所では、ファサードのリボンを想起させるオレンジ色の壁が、屋外スロープから内部へと利用者を自然に導く。120度に折れ曲がる壁面によって、奥行きと広がりを感じさせる台形の保育室を構成した。この空間構成はESRのロゴに着想を得たものであり、ミツバチの巣を想起させる形態を通して、「協力」や「団結」といった価値観を色彩と形態によって表現している。

The client, ESR Co., Ltd., is a logistics real estate company that develops and operates numerous large-scale logistics facilities under the corporate philosophy of “HUMAN CENTRIC DESIGN.” The company aims to provide long-term value to tenants and local communities by creating comfortable work environments.
This project is the third phase of a large-scale logistics facility development underway on the former Mitsubishi Heavy Industries factory site (approximately 330,000 m²) in Yokohama. Following its work on Phases 1 and 2, Takato Tamagami Design was responsible for the façade design and the interior design of the common areas.
Similar to the adjacent DC1 (Phase 1 construction, “Distribution Center 1,” completed in 2022), this project incorporates ribbon-like decorative elements on the façade to express the dynamic energy of “logistics.” This motif incorporates metaphors of “waves” and “wind” that symbolize the port location. While DC1 expressed this through gentle twists, DC3 (Distribution Center 3) employs sharp, angular folds, giving it a distinct character while maintaining the shared concept. Standing side by side as a pair, DC1 and DC3 function as a gateway to welcome visitors, much like the “A-Un” statues.
R: Lounge East is a polygonal glass space located on the top floor of the building’s northeast side, serving as a rest lounge with a panoramic view of Tokyo Bay. Taking advantage of its location near the quay, it creates an experience akin to being aboard a large passenger ship. The custom-built counters and benches feature fluid movements that echo the waves on the sea’s surface, creating a relaxing space where visitors can feel a connection with nature.
R: Lounge West is oriented with its long axis facing the DC1 side, offering a view of Mount Fuji in the distance. It is also situated overlooking “Kanazawa Forest,” a green space within the site, allowing visitors to watch children playing in the woods. The ceiling features a design resembling drifting clouds, reflecting the ribbon motif of the façade. By varying the ceiling heights, the space creates diverse seating areas and a rich spatial experience.
At the daycare center, an orange wall, reminiscent of the ribbon on the façade, naturally guides users from the outdoor ramp into the interior. A wall that bends at a 120-degree angle forms a trapezoidal childcare room that conveys a sense of depth and spaciousness. The ESR logo inspired this spatial composition; through a form reminiscent of a beehive, it expresses values such as “cooperation” and “unity” through color and form.
