レゴのテーマパーク「レゴランド」のある、デンマークのビルンドに建つ〈レゴキャンパス〉は、最高の遊び体験を開発するために「仕事と遊び」を統合した、レゴグループのオフィス複合施設です。

デンマークで創立し、ノルウェー、スウェーデン、ドイツ、イギリスにもオフィスを構える、スカンジナビアを代表する建築事務所C.F.モーラー・アーキテクツ（C.F. Møller Architects）が設計しました。

遊び体験を開発する「仕事と遊び」の空間

8つの建物からなる〈レゴキャンパス〉は、レゴグループの価値観と文化に基づき、仕事と遊びを統合した空間である。

レゴグループの価値観である「想像力、楽しさ、創造性、思いやり、学び、品質」を反映し、従業員が世界中の子供たちのために最高の遊び体験を開発できるよう、遊び心と包括性、そして協力的な環境を提供するために設計されたキャンパスである。

〈レゴキャンパス〉は一般に公開されている大きな公園の中にあり、明るくフレキシブルなオフィススペースは、レゴグループの製品からインスピレーションを得た機能と色彩を持つ壮大なアトリウムを囲むように配置されている。

それぞれの建物のパーツは、周辺のレゴ施設やビルンドの街のスケールと呼応している。また、レゴの遊びが持つ多様な選択肢を反映するために、あえて画一化を避け、多様性と遊び心にあふれた空間を実現している。

〈レゴキャンパス〉のそれぞれの建物が重なり合う部分には、鮮やかな色の階段が特徴的な小さな広場があり、館内をめぐる際の目印となっており、建物の上部にある2つの巨大なレゴブロックはミーティングスペースとなっている。

ファサードは太陽光を最大限に活用し、冷暖房の必要性を最小限に抑えた設計とするとともに、建物のモチーフの1つである大きなレゴブロックをあしらっている。

イノベーションのサポート

1階には「ピープルハウス」と呼ばれるカルチャーとアクティビティの拠点があり、スポーツホールやイベントスペースなど、さまざまな社会的・身体的活動のための共有施設で構成されている。

従業員同士が勤務中および勤務後にコミュニティを構築して遊ぶためのスペースを提供している空間である。

リラクゼーションとインスピレーションの場として作成された「ピープルハウス」には、最先端のフィットネススタジオ、ワークショップスペース、家族が従業員を訪問するためのレゴ・ホームステイ、映画館、アクティビティゾーン、共有キッチン、ヘルスクリニックなどの施設があり、従業員の家族も利用できる。

自然を取り込み創造性を刺激する

建物と公園を一体化させることで、屋外ミーティングスペース、ウォーク＆トークルート、プレイエリアが生まれた。これらの要素は、内と外の垣根を取り払い、イノベーションを刺激する。

他にも中庭やポケットガーデン、温室やミニゴルフコース、屋上緑化、植物による「グリーン」パーティションなど、いたるところに自然を感じる空間を用意している。

持続可能な建築

サステナビリティはレゴグループの重点項目であり、新キャンパスの設計においても中心的な役割を担っている。LEEDのゴールド認証を取得した〈レゴキャンパス〉は、近隣の駐車場の屋根に設置されたソーラーパネルで電力の一部をまかなう、高品質で低エネルギーのオフィスビルである。

さらに特殊石膏ボードを採用することで、建設時に650,000kgのCO2の排出を削減し、建設過程で1,000トンの建設廃棄物がリサイクルされた。

屋上はセダムにより緑化し、雨水を集めて周辺の緑地に灌水しており、屋外の家具はすべてレゴブロックの廃材を使用することで、5,000kgのレゴの廃材がリサイクルされた。

LEGO® Campus is a flexible and sustainable office complex and park that supports the strong corporate values and playful culture of the LEGO Group.

The new LEGO Campus consists of eight building parts, merged to create a single continuous work and play space for 2000 employees based on the LEGO Group’s values and innovative culture.

Reflecting the LEGO Group values of ‘Imagination, Fun, Creativity, Caring, Learning, and Quality’, the Campus has been designed to provide a playful, inclusive, and collaborative environment that enables employees to develop the best play experiences for children all over the world.

Located in a large park that is open to the public, the bright and flexible office spaces come together around a spectacular atrium with features and colours inspired by the LEGO Group’s products. The individual building parts echo the scale of the surrounding LEGO facilities as well as the city of Billund, and the ensemble deliberately avoids uniformity in favour of diversity and playful twists, to reflect the multitude of options that LEGO play represents.

Supporting innovation

A culture and activity hub called the ‘People House’ is located at the ground floor and comprises shared facilities for a variety of social and physical activities including a sports hall, event spaces and hotel accommodation. Collaborative spaces create an informal and inspirational atmosphere throughout LEGO Campus. The upper floors include spaces for a variety of work and play activities to support creativity and innovation. Where the individual building parts overlap, small squares with brightly coloured stairways form social nodes and wayfinding markers.

The facade is designed to both maximise interior daylight and minimise cooling requirements. This creates a playful yet beautiful façade which contains large LEGO bricks as one of the buildings motifs. Two giant LEGO bricks form meeting spaces on top of the building.

Integration of the building within the publicly accessible park, creates outdoor meeting spaces, walk and talk routes and play areas. These elements break down the barriers between inside and outside, stimulating innovation. From the interior, one is surrounded by greenery everywhere, in the form of the park, courtyards, pocket gardens, and green roofs including greenhouse and mini-golf course.

Green roofs, durable materials, enhanced biodiversity and collection of rainwater for distribution to basins and lakes, all make LEGO Campus a highly sustainable complex which achieves the strictest Danish 2020 energy certification.

Creating a sustainable workplace

Sustainability is a focus for the LEGO Group, and this has been central to the design of the new Campus. Achieving a Gold level LEED certification, the Campus is a high quality, low-energy office building partly powered by solar panels installed on the roof of the nearby parking facility.
In addition, the Campus also features:

・Special gypsum fibreboard – which saved 650,000 kg of CO2 emissions during construction, additionally 1000 tons of construction waste was recycled during the construction process

・Sedum plants on roof surfaces collecting rainwater which irrigates the surrounding green spaces

・Workplace waste is sorted into 10 different categories

・Flexible and open workspaces with “green” partitions of plants and planters

・All outdoor furniture was made from waste LEGO Bricks. 5000 kg of LEGO waste has been recycled.

・A focus on biodiversity with a wealth of indigenous plants, trees and natural environments planted to support wildlife
