クロアチア東部で建設が進む、BIG初となる音楽パフォーマンス会場〈EVEミュージックホール〉

クロアチア東部のチェピンにビャルケ・インゲルス（Bjarke Ingels）率いる建築家集団 BIG（Bjarke Ingels Group）が設計した〈EVEミュージックホール（EVE Music Hall）〉が発表されました。

2027年初頭にオープン予定となっており、完成すればBIGにとってクロアチア初の建築であるとともに、同スタジオが手掛ける初の音楽パフォーマンス会場となるプロジェクトです。

BIGは、クロアチア東部のチェピンにおいて完成間近となった〈EVEミュージックホール〉を公開した。このプロジェクトはライブ音楽会場を中心に、会議施設、展示スペース、カフェ、屋上イベントスペースなどを備えている。

2027年初頭のオープンを予定している〈EVEミュージックホール〉は、BIGにとってクロアチア初のプロジェクトであるとともに、同スタジオが手掛ける初の完成した音楽パフォーマンス会場となる見込みである。

スラヴォニア地方の新たな文化・社交の拠点

〈EVEミュージックホール〉は、スラヴォニア地方に新たな文化・社交の拠点をつくり出すという、より広範な構想の一環である。10,000m²のこの施設は、コンサート、会議、展示会、その他のイベントを開催できるよう設計されており、屋内では約4,000人、屋外では最大25,000人を収容可能となっている。

「〈EVEミュージックホール〉は、スラヴォニアの広大な野原の果てしない地平線上に、音楽の噴火のように現れるものとして構想された。大小2つのコンサートホールが、その間に公共スペースを挟むように配置されている。木材と石材で構成されたファサードは布のように垂れ下がり、ホールの垂直性と景観の水平性を融合させている。石のカーテンに設けられたスリットが開くことで、来場者を中へと招き入れ、探索へと誘う」

「メイン・ホワイエはコンサートホールの2つの鏡張りの壁に囲まれており、テントのような木造の屋根が無限に繰り返されるような空間を創出している。建築全体は機能的であると同時に幻想的であり、ユートピア的な実用主義の建築的具現化のようでもある。これは、スラヴォニアの田園地帯の真ん中に地域文化の拠点を作ろうという大胆な野心という、ほとんど矛盾した概念の具現化である」

プロジェクトのビジョンは現地で開催されたイベントで発表され、来場者は建設中の現場を体験し、建築的ビジョンを発見するとともに、ピアニストのピーター・ベンチェ（Peter Bence）による特別なライブ演奏も披露された。

風景から浮かび上がる2つのボリュームと石のカーテン

広々とした農地の中に佇む〈EVEミュージックホール〉は、周囲の畑や木立から浮かび上がる2つの独立したボリュームとして現れる。地元の石灰岩のスラブで覆われたファサードは、まるで劇場の幕のように地面に向かって垂れ下がり、内部で行われるパフォーマンスを暗示すると同時に、敷地全体からロビーや内部の活気を垣間見せる曲線状の開口部を形成している。

内外の境界をあいまいにし、人々を導くホワイエ

来訪者は、2つのホールの間に位置するロビーへと続く、景観に配慮された歩行者用ルートを通って到着する。内部では、湾曲した吊り木製梁が中央の集いの空間を横切り、下方に伸びて一体型の座席へとつながっている。

鏡張りの壁は光と動きを反射し、内部と周囲の景観への視界を広げると同時に、来訪者を音楽ホール、会議スペース、屋上イベントエリア、その他の公共施設へと導いていく。

音響的に分離された2つの会場

大きなボリュームにはライブ音楽ホールが、小さなボリュームには会議場と付帯施設が収められている。各ホールは独立した会場として構想されており、音響的に分離され、異なる用途に合わせて最適化されているため、同時または個別に運営することが可能である。

平野に佇む「正面」だけの建築

「〈EVEミュージックホール〉は2つの実用的なオルゴールで構成されており、スラヴォニア産石灰岩のシートで包まれ、建物のスケールからベンチのスケールへと緩やかに下降している。内部に入り、2つの会場の間に入ると、石のヴェールは〈EVEミュージックホール〉の中心にあるメイン・ホワイエを包み込み、木造の船体によって支えられ、温かみのある木の世界を創り出している。外に目を向けると、農業平野の中に穏やかに佇むこの建物には正面しかなく、すべてのファサードが、あらゆる方向の自然環境全体を等しく眺めている」

多様なプログラムに対応する柔軟な設計

〈EVEミュージックホール〉は、着席形式のコンサートやオーケストラ公演から、立ち見形式の観客や大規模なプロダクションまで、多様なパフォーマンス形式に対応できるよう設計されている。一方、会議ホールは、会議、プレゼンテーション、展示会のための柔軟な空間を提供する。建物の外には、フェスティバル、パフォーマンス、野外イベントのために、会場を周囲の景観へと拡張する屋外集会エリアが広がっている。

BIG UNVEILS EVE MUSIC HALL AS THE PROJECT TAKES FORM IN EASTERN CROATIA

In Čepin in eastern Croatia, BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group has unveiled EVE Music Hall as construction nears completion. The project centers on a live music venue, alongside congress facilities, exhibition spaces, a café, and rooftop event spaces. Scheduled to open in early 2027, EVE Music Hall marks BIG’s first project in Croatia and is expected to become the studio’s first completed music performance venue.

EVE Music Hall is part of the broader ambition to create a new cultural and social destination in Slavonia. The 10,000 m² venue is designed to host concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and other activities, accommodating nearly 4,000 guests indoors and up to 25,000 outdoors.

“The EVE Music Hall is conceived as a musical eruption on the infinite horizon of the Slavonian fields. Two concert halls, one big and one small, frame a public space between them. Facades of timber and stone are draped like fabrics, merging the verticality of the halls with the horizontality of the landscape. Slits in the stone curtains open up, inviting visitors to enter and explore. The main foyer is framed by the two mirror-clad walls of the concert halls, repeating the tent-like timber roof at infinity. The architectural whole is both functional and fantastical, like an architectural manifestation of utopian pragmatism. It is an embodiment of the almost oxymoronic contradiction of the bold ambition to build a regional cultural destination in the middle of the Slavonian countryside.” – Bjarke Ingels, Founder & Creative Director, BIG

The vision for the project was presented during an event on site, where guests were invited to experience the construction in progress, discover the architectural vision, and attend a special live performance by pianist Peter Bence.

Set within the open agricultural landscape, EVE appears as a pair of distinct volumes emerging from the surrounding fields and tree lines. Clad in slabs of local limestone, the facade drapes toward the ground like theatrical curtains, referencing the performances taking place inside while creating curved openings that reveal glimpses of the foyer and interior activity from across the site.

Visitors arrive through landscaped pedestrian routes leading to the foyer between the two halls. Inside, curved suspended timber beams span the central gathering space and extend downward into integrated seating. Mirrored walls reflect light and movement, extending views across the interior and surrounding landscape while guiding visitors toward the music hall, congress spaces, rooftop event areas, and other public functions.

The larger volume houses the live music hall, while the smaller volume contains the congress hall and supporting programs. Each hall is conceived as an independent venue, acoustically separated and optimized for different uses, allowing them to operate simultaneously or independently.

“EVE is composed of two pragmatic music boxes, wrapped in sheets of Slavonian limestone that gently descend from the scale of the building to the scale of a bench. Once inside and between the two venues, the veil of stone is supported by mass-timber hulls that shelter and shape the main foyer at the heart of EVE, creating a warm wooden world. Outside, as it rests gently within the agricultural plain, the building has only fronts, where all façades contemplate equally the entire natural surroundings in all directions.” – João Albuquerque, Partner, BIG

EVE is designed to accommodate multiple performance formats, from seated concerts and orchestral events to standing audiences and large-scale productions, while the congress hall provides flexible space for conferences, presentations, and exhibitions. Beyond the building, outdoor gathering areas extend the venue into the surrounding landscape for festivals, performances, and open-air events.
