ピーター・ズントー初の家具コレクション誕生
タイムアンドスタイルが「Peter Zumthor collection」を発表
タイムアンドスタイル（Time & Style）から、スイス人建築家のピーター・ズントー（Peter Zumthor）の家具コレクション「Peter Zumthor collection」が発表されました。
「Peter Zumthor collection by Time & Style」は、ピーター・ズントーおよびアトリエ・ピーター・ズントー（Atelier Peter Zumthor）が、これまでに手がけてきた建築プロジェクトにおいて、それぞれの空間のためにデザインし、製作した数々の家具を編集・再構成してローンチするもの。
全5シリーズから成るプロダクト群は、世界初となる、ピーター・ズントーの家具コレクションとなります。

これまでズントーは、自身の建築の一部として家具をデザインし、製作してきましたが、家具を単体で創案したり、製品化を目的としてデザインすることはありませんでした。「Peter Zumthor collection by Time & Style」は、日本の家具メーカーであるタイムアンドスタイルとのコラボレーションにより、日本の素材と製造技術で製作され、製品化されます。建築との文脈が結びつけられたこれらの家具は、ズントーの普遍的な建築物の断片を切り取ったものと言えるでしょう。

タイムアンドスタイルがこれまで培ってきた、日本に受け継がれている伝統を生かしたものづくりは、ピーター・ズントーが考える、長い時間軸に耐え得る、本質的で普遍的な存在となる建築の創造といった、建築家としての彼の概念との親和性を有しています。ズントーが生み出す建築は、その土地の風景の一部となり、遥か先の未来にも存在するような佇まいで、時間の概念そのものを内包しているかのよう。「Peter Zumthor collection by Time & Style」もまた、普遍的な存在となる、未来のパーマネントコレクションとなるに違いありません。

「Peter Zumthor collection」は、2022年6月にイタリア・ミラノで開催予定の「ミラノ・サローネ」での展示を皮切りに、全世界に向けて展開される予定です。
タイムアンドスタイルでは、ズントーとコラボレーションしたスペシャルなコレクションのために特設サイトをオープン。ズントーへのインタビュー動画なども公開。また、コレクションのカタログには、ズントーの建築作品とアトリエ風景の写真も多数収録され（上の写真14点を含む）、1冊の作品集のようです。

ピーター・ズントー（Peter Zumthor）プロフィール
1943年4月26日、スイスのバーゼルで家具職人の息子として生まれる。1958年から1962年まで家具職人としての訓練を受け、1963年から67年までニューヨークのプラットインスティテュートでデザインを学ぶ。1967年にグラウビュンデン州（スイス）の歴史的建造物保存局の建築家を務め、1979年にスイスのハルデンシュタインで自身の設計事務所・アトリエ・ピーター・ズントー（Atelier Peter Zumthor）を設立し、現在に至る。
1996年からメンドリシオ建築アカデミーの教授を務め、ロサンゼルスの南カリフォルニア建築学校、ミュンヘン工科大学、ハーバード大学大学院デザイン研究科で客員教授を歴任。
主な受賞に、デンマークのカールスバーグ建築賞（1998年）、ミース・ファン・デル・ローエ賞（1999年）、高松宮殿下記念世界文化賞（2006年）、プリツカー賞（2009年）ほか多数。王立英国建築家協会（RIBA）は、建築の進歩に対する影響を称え、2013年にロイヤルゴールドメダルを授与している。
