盛岡市内にある施工会社の事務所と住宅併用のプロジェクトである。
市内のほぼ中心部にあるこの敷地は、周辺は戸建住宅が比較的密集している場所である。プロジェクトは他社住宅会社とは外観デザイン性で一線を画したいということ、住宅部分はプライバシーを確保することという要望によりスタートした。
2棟は明確に分けて配置し、ガラスの繋ぎによって連結し、行き来を可能としている。敷地前面を空地とし、周辺から圧迫感を軽減しながら駐車スペースとしている。この空地は定期的なイベント広場としても機能させている。
事務所棟の外壁には、左官塗材（モールテックス）とスレート板をラップ張りとしている。このスレートは市中心にある盛岡城址の花崗岩の石垣積みや、県名産である南部鉄器の黒をイメージし、黒色でムラのある製品を採用。鎧張りの影や、色ムラが外壁に強い個性を与えるとともに、来訪者の方々に印象に残る外壁材という点ではクライアントからも評価を得ている。
1階を接客スペース、2階をワンルームの執務スペースとして計画。小屋組にも個性を表している。住宅部分は外観からは一見すると閉鎖的に見えるが、内部に入ると屋根のないオープンな土間スペースが広がり、木製の開口を開けると内外があいまいな半戸外のスペースが拡張する。
各機能をコンパクトにまとめ、階層をずらし階段によって空間を繋げることにより、面積以上の連続性を確保した。上下階とも外部土間と連続し、プライバシーを確保しながら開放性をも両立している。（渡辺ガク）
A branch office combined housing that expresses the locality with materials
This is a project for a construction company in Morioka City that combines office and residential space.
The site, located in the city center, is surrounded by a relatively dense concentration of detached houses. The project started with a desire to distinguish itself from other housing companies in terms of exterior design and ensure privacy for the residential portion.
The two buildings are separated from each other and are connected by a glass walkway, allowing people to come and go as they please. The front of the site is left vacant to provide a parking space while reducing the sense of oppression from the surrounding area. This vacant lot also functions as a regular event plaza.
The exterior walls of the office building are lapped with plastering material “MORTEX ” and slate. The slate is black and unevenly colored products, inspired by the granite stonewalls of the Morioka Castle ruins in the center of the city and the black of Nanbu ironware, a specialty of the prefecture. The shadows and uneven colors of the armor cladding give the exterior walls a strong personality, and the client also appreciates the fact that the exterior wall material leaves a lasting impression on visitors. I planned the first floor as a reception area and the second floor as a one-room office space. The shed structure also expresses individuality. The house appears to be closed from the outside, but once inside, an open dirt floor space without a roof spreads out. When the wooden opening is opened, a semi-outdoor space with an ambiguous interior and exterior expands.
Each function is compactly integrated, and by shifting the levels and connecting the spaces with stairs, a continuity that exceeds the area is secured. Both the upper and lower floors are connected to the exterior earthen floor, ensuring privacy and openness. (Gaku Watanabe)
