敷地は兵庫県の南西部に位置する住宅街にある。
郊外ではあるが、各種学校が近くにあり都市部への通勤圏内で子育て世代が増えつつあるエリアである。北西面をバス通りの道路に面し、三方を隣地に囲まれたおよそ29坪、建蔽率60％の敷地であった。
依頼主は20代の夫婦2人。近い将来、サイクルショップ経営予定のご主人のための店舗計画部分、自家用車＋来客用の駐車場。そして家族形態が変化する可能性も見越した居住部分を求められた。
限られた敷地いっぱいに建築物を感じさせるように配置。交通量の多い道路面、三方を近接する住居に囲まれた敷地。プライバシーの確保と日射取得、相反する条件をクリアしつつ心地よい陽光の入るゆたかな空間をつくるために中庭を中心にした2階リビングのプランとした。
空間構成としては、1階を趣味の部屋（店舗計画）と納戸、駐車場とした店舗空間に。居住空間へと続く階段も店舗の雰囲気を損なわぬよう意匠性を意識した左官仕上げとした。ディスプレイ計画を容易にするためベイツガの板張りを左官仕上げと併用した。粗野な印象を抑えるためにベイツガ材にスリットを入れ、細幅の材を連続することで繊細な印象をもたせた。
2階は中庭バルコニーを中心に、壁面収納をもつ寝室、リビング、水回りと続く。どの開口部も外部からの視線を躱して計画したので開口部に目隠しは不要。プライバシーの確保と日射取得を実現した。2階リビングにすることにより天井高さを確保。カラマツの登り梁をツーバイ材で特注。壁、キッチンカウンターの左官仕上げともよく馴染んだ。
外観は周囲の建物にならった勾配屋根。工場のような趣のガルバリウム大波が植栽を引き立てる。周囲の街並みに溶け込みつつも店舗要素を入れ込んだ。
昨今のコロナ禍における世情によりますます求められるであろうスモールスケールの職住一体建築となった。（黒木大亮）
A residence that integrates work and residence with open private spaces that open to the sky
The site is in a residential area in southwestern Hyogo Prefecture.
Although it is in the suburbs, various schools are nearby, and the area is within commuting distance of the city, where an increasing number of people are raising children. The site faced a bus route on its northwestern side and was surrounded on three sides by neighboring land with a building-to-land ratio of 60%.
The client is a couple in their 20s. The site was designed to accommodate a store for the husband, who plans to open a cycle store in the near future, as well as a parking lot for his car and visitors. They also wanted a living area that would accommodate changes in their family structure.
The limited site was arranged to give the impression of architecture. It is surrounded on three sides by neighboring residences on a busy road. To create a comfortable and sunny space, a second-floor living room plan centered around a courtyard was adopted.
The first floor is a store space with a hobby room (store plan), a storage room, and a parking lot. The staircase to the living space was plastered with a design to maintain the store’s atmosphere. To facilitate the display plan, the plastering was combined with the plastering of the bay tree planks. In order to reduce the impression of roughness, slits were made in the bay-leaf timbers, and a series of narrow timbers were used to give a delicate impression.
The second floor has a courtyard balcony, a bedroom with wall storage, a living room, and a water room. All the openings are designed to avoid any visual glare from the outside, so there is no need for blindfolds at the openings. The ceiling height was secured by making the living room on the second floor. The larch climbing beams were custom-made from 2×2 lumber. The plaster finish on the walls and kitchen counter blends well with the rest of the house.
The exterior has a sloping roof that is in keeping with the surrounding buildings. The galvanized wave, which has a factory-like appearance, complements the plantings. While blending in with the surrounding streetscape, the building also incorporates store elements.
The result is a small-scale building integrating work and residence, which is expected to be increasingly sought after due to the recent coronavirus disaster. (Daisuke Kuroki)
