2021年に竣工した筥崎宮参道に面して建つデザイナーの新築オフィス兼用住宅〈TETUSIN DESIGN RE-USE OFFICE〉の増築計画。トークイベント・展示会・販売会・ワークショップなど、人々が集う新たなカルチャーを生み出す、未来を共に創造していく実験の場としてのオープンスタジオである。
もともと将来の拡張性の場として計画されていた鉄骨フレームの内側に木造のボリュームを挿入することで、洋館建築のオリジナルのファサードの一部を転写した新しいファサードをもつ風景を生み出している。ボリューム内にはキッチンを設けるとともに、入れ子状にムーバブルユニットが収容され、敷設されたレール上を動く建築である。ムーバブルユニットにはテント膜の屋根・外壁が接続しており、拡張することで敷地全体をイベント会場にしたり、収縮して半外部の立食空間にするなど、多様な使い方・展開が可能となる。

An open studio with an expandable tent membrane
The expansion plan for the newly built designer office and residence “TETUSIN DESIGN RE-USE OFFICE,” completed in 2021, and facing the approach to Hakozaki Shrine. It serves as an open studio—an experimental space for co-creating the future, fostering a new culture where people gather for talk events, exhibitions, sales events, workshops, and more.
By inserting a wooden volume within the steel frame originally planned for future expansion, it creates a new façade that transposes part of the original Western-style building’s façade, forming a distinctive landscape. Inside the volume, a kitchen is installed, and movable units are nested within, creating an architecture that moves along laid-out rails. Tent membrane roofs and exterior walls are connected to these movable units. By expanding, the entire site can become an event venue; by contracting, it transforms into a semi-outdoor standing reception space, enabling diverse uses and configurations.
