約90年の歴史を誇り、賓客をはじめ国内外のゲストに愛されてきた「リーガロイヤルホテル」。2025年4月にIHGホテルズ＆リゾーツのコレクションブランド「Vignette Collection」に加盟し、大規模リニューアルを経て〈リーガロイヤルホテル大阪 ヴィニェット コレクション〉としてグランドオープンした。我々はコンセプト立案からエントランス、レセプション、客室など、多岐にわたるインテリアデザインを担当している。
当ホテルは建築家・吉田五十八⽒によって設計され、日本の伝統美と西洋文化が融合した建築。また「水に浮かぶ中之島」とも言えるような、堂島川と土佐堀川の中州に位置している。ホテルの歴史と、水運で大阪の経済と文化の中心を担い栄えてきたこの地の特性を深めるため、「伝統美と水の融合」を図ることをコンセプトとした。
エントランスでは、新たなホテルの魅力を象徴するゲートがゲストを出迎える。熟練職人の手により丹念に仕上げられた長さの異なるパイプを、前後・上下にずらしながら横に連結し、水面のような浮遊感を創出した。
レセプションには西陣織の屏風を設え、ゲストを歓迎する敬意とおもてなしの心を重ねた。卓越した伝統技術と西陣織の豊かな質感にふくらし織の技法を融合させ、水の躍動感を立体的に表現している。
客室フロアへ上がると、床に映し出された月明かりと水面がゲストを客室へと誘う。客室内の床には水面の美しさを抽象化したデザインが広がり、その上にベッドが浮かんでいるような開放感が味わえる。コーポレートカラーのグリーンを基調に、西洋様式の廻り縁や建具などは保存修復し、歴史を継承する格調高い空間を目指した。ヘッドボードには水の魅力を表現した書をあしらい、墨の濃淡や滲みなどの表情で水面の動きや力強さ、立体感を生み出している。
世界から訪れたゲストが、ここで日本の伝統文化と職人の技に触れながら五感と心に深い印象を刻み、心が自然とほどけるひとときを過ごしていただければ嬉しく思う。

A hotel that embodies the memories of Nakanoshima, where traditional beauty and water come together
With a history spanning nearly 90 years, the Rihga Royal Hotel has long been cherished by distinguished guests and visitors from both Japan and abroad. In April 2025, it joined IHG Hotels & Resorts’ “Vignette Collection” and, following a major renovation, grandly reopened as the Rihga Royal Hotel Osaka Vignette Collection. We were responsible for a wide range of interior design work, from conceptual planning to the entrance, reception area, and guest rooms.
Designed by architect Isoya Yoshida, the hotel’s architecture blends traditional Japanese beauty with Western culture. It is situated on an island between the Dojima and Tosabori Rivers, a location often described as “Nakanoshima floating on water.” To deepen the hotel’s history and the unique character of this area—which has flourished as the economic and cultural center of Osaka through water transport—we adopted the concept of “the fusion of traditional beauty and water.”
At the entrance, a gate symbolizing the hotel’s new charm welcomes guests. Pipes of varying lengths, meticulously finished by skilled craftsmen, are connected horizontally, offset front-to-back and top-to-bottom, creating a sense of floating on the water’s surface.
A Nishijin-ori folding screen adorns the reception area, embodying both respect and hospitality as guests are welcomed. By fusing the rich texture of Nishijin-ori with the fukurashi-ori (puffed weave) technique and exceptional traditional craftsmanship, the design three-dimensionally expresses the dynamic movement of water.
Upon ascending to the guest room floor, moonlight and a water surface projected onto the floor guide guests to their rooms. The floor of each guest room features a design abstracting the beauty of a water surface, creating a sense of openness as if the bed were floating above it. With green as the corporate color, Western-style moldings and fixtures were preserved and restored to create an elegant space that honors history. The headboard features calligraphy that captures the allure of water; the variations in ink density and the subtle blurring of the strokes evoke the movement, power, and three-dimensionality of the water’s surface.
We hope that guests from around the world will experience Japan’s traditional culture and the craftsmanship of its artisans here, leaving a deep impression on their senses and hearts, and spending a moment where their minds naturally unwind.
