庭のある暮らしを求めて。ただ眺めるだけの庭に留まらず、庭に出て、土に触れ、緑の下で過ごすために、室内と庭の距離感や庭への出入りの方法から考え始めた。
前面道路に面して庭をつくると通り行く人の気配が気になり、外へ出ない庭になってしまうので、脇道に面して庭を設けて、コの字型の建物で囲うことで、プライベートな庭をつくった。中庭に対して、各部屋の窓を向けることで、内と外が開放的につながる。
玄関からリビングまで土間続きとし、日常的に庭に出入りできるようにした。リビングの天井は高くとり、庭の開放的な雰囲気を取り入れつつ開口部の高さを抑えたり、渡り廊下の下にソファコーナーを設けることで、落ち着き感のある場所もしつらえている。
リビングからステップを上がるとダイニングに入る。ダイニングの窓は出窓にして腰掛けられるようにすることで、窓辺に人の気配をつくり、キッチンやダイニングの賑わいの輪を広げた。またダイニングの周りには水回りを並べて、家事動線をまとめることで共働きの忙しい日常に対応している。
ダイニングの脇にある階段を上ると、動線が分かれて右手に曲がると子供室や寝室があり、まっすぐ進むと渡り廊下があり、その先にゲストルームになる和室がある。渡り廊下には書棚やソファが置かれており、将来的にはスタディコーナーにもなり、家族の居場所として使われる。そして吹き抜けを介して、リビングやダイニングに人の気配を伝えるとともに、冬にはリビングの土間に蓄熱された床暖房が渡り廊下を通して2階に広まっていく。
庭とリビングがつながり、リビングから各居場所にも空間がつながっていき、庭の気配や人の気配を伝えていく。（丸山 弾）
A courthouse that brings the garden closer to the family
The client was seeking a life with a garden. But, in order to go beyond just looking at the garden, to go out into the garden, touch the soil, and spend time under the greenery, we began to think about the distance between the interior and the garden and how to get in and out of the garden.
If the garden is built facing the front street, the presence of passersby will be a concern, and the garden will become a garden that people do not go out to, so we created a garden facing a side street and surrounded by a U-shaped building to create a private garden. By directing the windows of each room toward the courtyard, the inside and outside are openly connected.
The entrance to the living room is connected to the garden by a dirt floor, allowing daily access to the garden. The ceiling of the living room is high to bring in the open atmosphere of the garden while keeping the height of the openings low, and a sofa corner is placed under the cross corridor to create a sense of calm.
Steps lead from the living room to the dining room. The dining room window is a bay window that allows people to sit out, creating a sense of people near the window and expanding the circle of activity in the kitchen and dining room. The water and kitchen facilities are arranged around the dining room, and the flow of household chores is integrated to accommodate the busy daily lives of both workers.
After climbing the stairs by the dining room, the flow line is divided into two parts: to the right are the children’s room and bedrooms, and straight ahead is a cross corridor that leads to a Japanese-style room that serves as the guest room. The hallway is furnished with bookcases and sofas and will be used as a study corner and family room. In winter, the underfloor heating stored on the earthen floor in the living room spreads to the second floor through the corridor.
The living room is connected to the garden, and the living room is connected to each living space, conveying the presence of the garden and people. (Dan Maruyama)
