敷地は岡山市郊外の古い住宅地の角地での計画である。この街並みを見て、この場所には大らかな家らしい家が似合うだろうと感じた。そこには大きな切妻屋根をシンプルに架け、街に対してもつながりがもてるように、ガラスの屋根が架かった土間空間をつくった。土間は本来、街や庭とつながりのある屋内化された内部空間である。ここでは外部から土間空間へ、さらにはリビング空間へとつなぐ中間領域として新しい生活空間となるよう、つまりパブリックな空間からプライベートな空間へとグラデーションに配置した。
切妻屋根のシンプルな空間が単調にならないように、明るさと暗さ、高さと低さ、大きさと小ささ、さまざまな対比の場所をつくると同時に連続的な空間をつくり、閉じることで解放され、離すことでつながっていく対比を生活の中で楽しみながら感じることを願っている。（天久和則）
A one-story house with a bright dirt floor that looks like a garden
The site is a corner lot in an old residential area in the suburbs of Okayama City. Looking at the cityscape, I felt that a house that looked like a large house would be appropriate for this location. Therefore, a large gabled roof was simply placed over the house, and earthen floor space with a glass roof was created to connect the house to the city. The earthen floor is originally an interior space that is connected to the city and the garden. In this project, the earthen floor is a new living space as an intermediate area connecting the outside to the earthen floor space and then to the living space. In other words, it is arranged in a gradation from a public space to a private room.
To prevent the simple space with a gabled roof from becoming monotonous, I created a place with various contrasts, such as light and dark, high and low, large and small, and at the same time created a continuous space, hoping that people will enjoy and feel the contrast of being released by closing the space and being connected by separating it in their daily lives.
