クライアントは50歳代の娘と彼女の母、そして猫2匹である。築約40年の、日本では一般的な彼女たちの家を今後さらに40年使うために屋根を軽くし、構造体を耐震補強し壁面クラックを補修することで建物を延命すること、そして同時に少しだけ内装を刷新することが求められた。父の記憶が残るこの家は、基本的に今のままでよい。慣れ親しんだ生活様式も変えたくないという要望であった。
そこで私たちは既存の記憶を残しながらも耐震性能を上げ、特にこの娘さんがお1人で暮らすようになったときにも豊かな暮らしができる方法を模索した。
私たちは構造体補強のための方杖の連続によってできた人間には通常不要な空間が、猫とともに暮らすこの家族にとっては大変豊かな空間となるであろうと考えた。
自由に遊ぶ猫を、今日もクライアントは微笑ましく眺めていることだろう。（長坂純明）
Mother and daughter's house to love cats moving between wands
The clients are a daughter in her fifties, her mother, and two cats. They wanted to extend the life of their 40-year-old house, which is common in Japan, by lightening the roof, reinforcing the structure against earthquakes, and repairing cracks in the walls. The house, which still retains the memory of my father, can be left as it is now. He did not want to change the lifestyle that he was used to.
Therefore, we sought a way to improve the earthquake resistance of the house while preserving the existing memories, and especially a way for the daughter to live a rich life when she comes to live alone.
We thought that the space created by the series of canes to reinforce the structure, which is usually unnecessary for humans, would be a rich space for this family living with cats.
