福井県福井市、長年地元の人たちに愛されてきた木造2階建てレストランをクライミング・ハイキングなどのアウトドアアクティビティグッズの専門店としてリノベーション。
躯体だけを残して解体、外壁と床材にフレキシブルボードを使用してコストを抑えつつスポーツの現代的なイメージを表現した。柱や梁は既存のまま活用することでアウトドアショップとして山小屋の雰囲気を残した。
正面入口には亜鉛メッキを使った「門」をつくり、これから新しいアウトドアギアを見つけることへの期待感が膨らむよう願いを込めた。既存の建物は薄暗く重い印象であったが、素材の変更だけで建物の軽さを表現できた。
既存平面よりもテラススペースを拡大したことで、今後計画しているアウトドアイベントや教室の拠点として使用できるスペースを確保している。アウトドア人口が増えつつある昨今、福井の自然を活かした地域活性化につながる新たなプラットホームとして活躍してくれることを願う。（岸名大輔）
Renovation to a modern outdoor shop that retains the atmosphere of a mountain lodge
Fukui-City, renovated a two-story wooden restaurant, long a favorite of locals, into a shop specializing in climbing, hiking, and other outdoor activity goods.
The building was demolished, leaving only the frame, and flexible boards were used for the exterior walls and flooring to express a contemporary image of sports while keeping costs down. The pillars and beams were utilized in their existing state to retain the atmosphere of a mountain lodge as an outdoor shop.
A galvanized ‘gate’ was created at the main entrance, with the hope that it would increase the anticipation of finding new outdoor gear in the future. The existing building had a dim and heavy impression, but only a change in materials allowed the building to express its lightness.
The terrace space has been enlarged compared to the existing plan to provide a space that can be used as a base for outdoor events and classes planned for the future. With the outdoor population on the rise, we hope that the building will serve as a new platform for regional revitalization by making the most of Fukui’s natural environment. (Daisuke Kishina)
