この建物は、もともと豆腐工場を経営されていたご夫婦が新しい土地でお店をはじめるための店舗兼住宅である。工場生産に限界を感じ、1つひとつ手づくりのものを目の前のお客さんに届けようと、このプロジェクトはスタートした。
小さいながら、1階には店舗と作業場・倉庫、2階が住宅となっており、できるだけ無駄のないプランニングを心がけた。
外装は屋根・壁ともに同色のガルバリウム鋼板の横葺きとし、当初からのコンセプトである「豆腐をつくるための小屋」そのものといえる外観に仕上げている。店舗にはシャッターの代わりに大型のスチール戸を設け、防火性を確保することで、その内側に木製の古建具を使用することを可能にした。また、店舗部分はyabe designの監修と協力により、家具や古建具、看板、照明やスイッチに至るまで、いわゆる大量生産品とは異なるものを使用し、新築ながら親しみやすい空間としている。
住宅部分についてはコンパクトながらトップライトとインナーバルコニーを設け、寝室と水回り以外をひとつなぎの空間とすることで、視線の抜けを確保し開放感のあるつくりとしている。（唐崎 圭）
A store and residence like a hut that delivers handmade products
This building is a store and home for a couple who originally ran a tofu factory and opened a store in a new land. Feeling the limitations of factory production, they started this project to deliver handmade products one by one to the customers in front of them.
Although small, the first floor is a store, workshop, and warehouse, and the second floor is a house, and we tried to keep the planning as lean as possible.
For the exterior, the roof and walls are made of galvanized steel sheets with horizontal roofing of the same color, giving the building the appearance of a “hut for making tofu,” which was the concept from the beginning. In addition, the store has large steel doors instead of shutters to ensure fireproofing and allow the use of old wooden fittings inside the doors. In the store part, under the supervision and cooperation of yabe design, the furniture, old fittings, signboards, lighting, and switches are all different from the so-called mass-produced products, creating an intimate space despite the new construction.
Although the house is compact, it has a top light and an inner balcony, and all the spaces except for the bedrooms and the water area are connected, creating a sense of openness with a clear line of sight. (Kei Karasaki)
