東京・北千駄ヶ谷に位置する、デザインラボラトリー「SUPER SUPER inc.」のオフィスである。同社はプロジェクトごとにさまざまなクリエイターとコラボレーションし、多彩なデザインを生み出している。
通りに面した立地を生かし、オフィスとしての機能だけでなく、会社の顔をつくることを意識した。ファサードには9mのガラスサッシをつくり、絵画や観葉植物、打ち合わせの風景など、通常では内側に入れて隠してしまうものを通りから見えるようにし、外に情報を発信できるようにした。
とはいえ、デザインを行うオフィスなのでプライバシーの確保も必要になる。そこでガラスサッシの内側にモルタルの壁を構成。高さに変化をつけることで、生垣や植栽のようなリズムが生まれ、見え過ぎず、見せ過ぎないパーティションとなった。また、モルタルの壁はワンルームの空間をギャラリー＋ミーティングスペースと、ワークスペースを2分しながら、ミーティングスペースのベンチ席とギャラリーとしての壁、ワークスペースのカウンターと3つの役割を与えた。その役割を全うする彫刻的な形状は、オフィスの最大の特徴となっている。
内部空間は多彩な色を使用するデザインを行う空間なので、白色塗装を施すのみのシンプルな空間とした。壁や建具、デスクなどの什器はモルタルやアルミ、ラワン合板など、本来は構造体や下地に使用される素材を実験的に無垢な状態で制作している。その実験的なデザインは、良くも悪くも新しい発見を与えてくれる。特徴的な壁面収納にはアルミ板を使用。ファザード以外に開口のない閉じた空間に、自然光が柔らかく反射しながら内部へと差し込み、時間帯によって表情を変える。
小さな建築が集まった街並みに自然と調和し、街に受け入れられたインテリアになったと考えている。（清水佑哉）
A design office where multifunctional mortar partitions create rhythm
The design laboratory SUPER SUPER inc. is located in Kita Sendagaya, Tokyo. The company collaborates with various creators on each project to produce a wide variety of designs.
Taking advantage of its street-facing location, we were conscious of creating not only a functional office but also a face for the company. For the façade, a 9-meter glass sash was created so that paintings, decorative plants, meeting scenes, and other items that would normally be hidden inside could be seen from the street, allowing information to be transmitted to the outside.
Nevertheless, since this is an office for design, privacy must also be ensured. Therefore, a mortar wall was constructed inside the glass sash. By varying the height, a rhythm similar to that of hedges and plantings was created, creating a partition that is neither too visible nor too visible. The mortar wall divides the one-room space into a gallery + meeting space and a workspace while providing bench seating in the meeting space, a wall as a gallery, and a counter in the workspace. The sculptural shape that fulfills all of these roles is the most distinctive feature of the office.
Since the interior space is designed to use a variety of colors, it was kept simple with only a white paint finish. The walls, fittings, desks, and other fixtures are experimentally made of materials originally used for the structure and base, such as mortar, aluminum, and lauan plywood, in a solid-state. Their experimental designs offer discoveries, both good and bad. Aluminum plates are used for the characteristic wall storage. In the closed space with no openings other than the facade, natural light softly reflects into the interior, changing its expression depending on the time of day.
We believe that the interior naturally blends in with the townscape of small buildings gathered together and has become an interior accepted by the town. (Yuya Shimizu)
