神戸市の瀬戸内海沿いに建つ、マンション最上階の改装。中古購入時、内装はともかく環境は素晴らしいものがあった。南の窓からは海が一望でき、晴れた日にはときどきバルコニーにカモメがやってきたりする。今回考えたのは、静かにこの眺望と生活するための空間である。
マンションの部屋の内部というのは、大きな柱や梁による凹凸が目立ちがちである。そうしたノイズを目立たないよう処理し、また、各素材もマンションでよく使用される塩化ビニールなどではなく本物の木、石、タイル、土を採用、天井にはメーカーに特注で作成してもらった40mm間隔で溝を入れたウォルナットの材を張るなど、上質で静謐な空間となるようにしている。
開口部はシングルガラスのアルミサッシであったため、すべて真空ガラスに入れ替えた。洗面と浴室はガラス張りで、朝や昼には海を見ながら入浴することができ、隠したいときには天井に埋め込まれたブラインドを下ろす。LDKに面した寝室と書斎の天井までの高さの建具を壁の中に引き込むと、天井がひと続きのより開放的な空間になり、家のどこからでも海を眺めることができる。
こうした要素、ディティール、素材1つひとつの注意深い積み重ねと、それらを統合する方向性があって初めて物件のもつポテンシャルを引き出し、機能的かつ美しい空間をかたちづくることができる。（桑原淳司）
Renovation that processed the noise to create a quiet view of the ocean
Renovation of the top floor of a condominium building on the Seto Inland Sea in Kobe. When we purchased the apartment secondhand, the environment, aside from the interior, was wonderful. The south window overlooks the ocean, and on sunny days, seagulls sometimes come to the balcony. This time, I was thinking of space to live quietly with this view.
The interior of a condominium room tends to be marked by large pillars and beams. The ceiling is covered with walnut wood with grooves at 40mm intervals, which was custom-made by the manufacturer to create a high-quality and tranquil space. The openings were single-glazed aluminum sashes, which were all replaced with vacuum glazing. The ceiling-high fittings in the bedroom and study facing the LDK can be pulled back into the wall to create a more open space with a continuous ceiling, allowing a view of the sea from anywhere in the house. The ceiling is open to the sea from anywhere in the house.
