築20年のマンションのペントハウス（元はアトリエとして利用）を改修し、川沿いの立地や形状を活かした賃貸住戸としてコンバージョンする計画。
8階建ての、7階屋上部分に独立しているメゾネット住戸のため、外周3面からは街と川をつなぐ景色がパノラマ状に広がっている。既存のアトリエがもっていた開放性を活かしながら、平面的にシンプルな直交する壁面を設けることで空間を分節し、住まいとして拠り所となる場所をつくっている。
特徴的な吹き抜け部分については、不要なスラブを一部撤去し、吹き抜けを整理することで眺望のきいた外周面と、斜めに振れた勾配屋根に意識が向くようにした。空間を分節する壁面には大きな開口やガラス面を設け、場所がつながっていく感覚をもたせつつ、外枠となるコンクリート部分と明確に違いをもたせるため、全面を白い壁面としている。（辻 昌志）
Penthouse that stands out for its gradient and view of the renovated atelier
The plan is to renovate a 20-year-old condominium penthouse (formerly used as an atelier) and convert it into rental units, taking advantage of its riverside location and shape.
The apartments are independent maisonette units on the rooftop of the seventh floor of an eight-story building, so the view connecting the city and the river is panoramic from three sides of the perimeter. While taking advantage of the openness of the existing atelier, the space is divided into two simple planar sections with straight walls, creating a place that serves as a focal point for the residence.
For the characteristic atrium, we removed part of the unnecessary slab. We reorganized the atrium to focus attention on the exterior surface with a view and the sloping roof that swings at an angle. The walls that divide the space have large openings and glass surfaces to create a sense of connection between the spaces and are entirely white to differentiate them from the concrete exterior framing.
