オホーツク海沿岸の高台に建つ、夫婦と子供たちのための住宅である。漁業を営む建主はシーズン中は夜明け前から出漁し夕方前に帰宅、冬季は流氷により漁以外の仕事をして過ごすため季節によって生活のスタイルが変化する。
「大きな中庭がほしい」このプロジェクトは、そんな建主の言葉から始まった。家族や友人が集うリビングと中庭を中心に、床高や気積の緩急を付けながらリゾーム状にあえて死角をつくりながら繋ぐ。家族で活動時間が違っても部屋に籠らず諧調する居場所の選択性と、性質の異なるアルコーブのような奥行きをもたせた。
厳寒な風土において、冬季は床暖房だけでも過ごせる性能により、温度ムラの少ない多様な過ごし方を許容する。冬はガレージを閉じることでエントランスの風除室を兼ね、夏は車をガレージから出し開放することで、 ダイニングからT字路の先まで連なる半屋外空間として過ごし方や遊び方の幅を広げる。（横田賢治）
A residence with a courtyard as its axis connects places of residence in a gradual manner
This house for a couple and their children is on a hill on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. The owner, a fisherman, starts fishing before dawn and returns home before dusk during the season, and during the winter, he works outside of fishing due to the drift ice.
The owner of the house said, “I want a big courtyard. This project began with the owner’s words. The living room, where family and friends gather, is connected to the courtyard by creating blind spots as a risorgimento, while moderating the floor height and air volume. The building has a depth like an alcove with different characteristics and a selectivity of place that allows the family members to have different activity times without being confined to their own rooms.
In the severely cold climate of Japan, the house can be used only with floor heating in winter, allowing for a variety of ways to spend time with minor temperature irregularity. In winter, the garage can be closed to serve as a windbreak for the entrance, and in summer, the car can be taken out of the garage and opened to create a semi-outdoor space that extends from the dining room to the end of the T-junction, expanding the range of ways to spend time and play.
