敷地は濃尾平野の東部に位置し、水田と住宅地が混ざり合う地域。実家の傍らに建つ家族3人のための住宅である。
周囲は水田が広がるおおらかな風景と、住宅地にある生活スケールが併存するような街並みであった。隣接する実家は、母屋の他に陶芸アトリエを併設しており、計画敷地内にもその倉庫があった。また北側には道路を挟んですぐに工業高校の敷地に面しており、水田とは異なるマッシブな質感と、ドライな広さがあった。
住人はここに住宅を計画するにあたり、単に新しくきれいな建物ではなく、幼少期のルーツや、学生時代の記憶、現在の暮らしやこれからの暮らしなど、時間の蓄積が感じられる場所にしたいという想いがあった。
そこで、現在ここにあるテクスチャーや過去の記憶の中にあるテクスチャーを、ブリコラージュするように住宅全体を構成することを考えた。具体的には、実家のアトリエや接する校舎の質感、学生時代に住んでいたアパート、幼少期に過ごした母国の街並みなどからテクスチャーをサンプリングし、住宅を構成する素材として採用した。それらの素材は、それぞれ独立した壁として現れ、室単位ではなく、群をなして住宅全体を囲うものとしてランダムに現れる。
その壁群は場所ごとに機能を備えた厚みをもち、生活を担保する。一見無関係なテクスチャーはそれぞれに固有の領域性をつくり、思い入れのある素材、過去の記憶と重なる素材など、意識する素材によって認識する領域が変化する。
建築は固く動かない存在であるが、住宅全体のまとまり、部屋単位のまとまり、テクスチャーがつくるまとまりなど、認識の中で空間の形や大きさは常に伸び縮みし、多重性と全体性を行き来する。壁の独立性は、住宅における「建物」や「部屋」といった単位を解きほぐし、要素に分解することに寄与する。さらに家具スケールと建築スケールの間を取りもち、家具や物と建築、また建築と街並みの親和性を高める。
この多重性の中に、住人の現在、未来の生活が重ね合わされて行くことで複雑性を増し、住人の所有する個性的な家具や物と相まって、生活、記憶、家族の関係などを包括する住人そのもののような住宅になればと考えている。

A residence where the space transforms as memories are traced
The site is located in the eastern part of the Nobi Plain, an area where rice paddies and residential neighborhoods intermingle. It is a home for a family of three, built beside the client’s family home.
The surrounding landscape featured expansive rice paddies and a townscape where the scale of residential life coexisted. The adjacent family home included a pottery studio alongside the main house, and a warehouse for this studio was also present on the planned site. To the north, across the road, lies the grounds of an industrial high school, presenting a different, massive texture and a dry expanse distinct from the rice paddies.
When planning this house, the residents desired not just a new, clean building, but a place where the accumulation of time could be felt—a place rooted in childhood memories, student days, current life, and future living.
Therefore, the concept was to construct the entire house as a bricolage, incorporating textures present here now and those from memory. Specifically, textures were sampled from the family home’s studio, the adjacent school building’s textures, the apartment where they lived as students, and the streetscapes of their childhood hometown in their native country, and adopted as materials to compose the house. These materials appear as independent walls, not confined to individual rooms, but randomly forming clusters that envelop the entire house.
These clusters of walls possess functional thickness specific to each location, supporting daily life. Seemingly unrelated textures each create their own distinct spatial boundaries. The perceived boundaries shift depending on the materials one consciously engages with—whether they are cherished, overlap with memories, or are otherwise meaningful.
Architecture is a rigid, immovable entity, yet within perception, the shape and scale of space constantly expand and contract—moving between the cohesion of the entire house, the cohesion of individual rooms, and the cohesion created by textures—navigating between multiplicity and wholeness. The independence of the walls contributes to unraveling the units of “building” and “room” within the house, decomposing them into elements. Furthermore, it mediates between the scale of furniture and the scale of architecture, enhancing the affinity between furniture and objects with the architecture, and between the architecture and the streetscape.
Within this multiplicity, the residents’ present and future lives are layered, increasing complexity. Combined with the resident’s unique furniture and possessions, the home becomes like the resident themselves, encompassing life, memory, and family relationships.
