「縷々（るる）」という言葉は、長く静かにどこまでも続いていくことを意味している。
縷々とした海の地平線に太陽が美しく落ちていく様子を眺めることができる住宅を、宿泊施設として改修した。既存住宅の片側の屋根には芝生の草屋根が敷かれていることに着想を得て、山と海が縷々と繋がっていく大陸の構図をイメージし、起伏のある大地で建物の内と外を連続させた。草屋根は緩やかな山のかたちをなぞり、起伏のある大地は滞在する人々の居場所をつくり、ゆっくりと海へと導かれていく。
ここでは海、大地、山の距離が近いという淡路島の風景の縮図を描いている。

The word “rulu” signifies something that continues long, quietly, and endlessly.
We renovated a residential home into a lodging facility where guests can watch the sun set over the endless horizon of the sea. Inspired by the existing grass roof covering one side of the original house, we envisioned a continental composition where the mountains and the sea connect endlessly, creating a sense of continuity between the building’s interior and exterior across the undulating landscape. The grass roof traces the gentle contours of a mountain, while the undulating landscape creates a sense of place for guests and gently guides them toward the sea.
Here, we have captured a microcosm of Awaji Island’s landscape, where the sea, land, and mountains are in proximity.
