かつて鍛冶職人の集う「鍛冶町」と、藍染めを生業とする「紺屋町」が隣り合って存在していた神田のまち。本計画は、その土地に刻まれた歴史的な関係性に着想を得て、「寄り添う」という概念を空間の主題として構築した。
空間構成の軸となるのは、まちの記憶を象徴する「紺色」と「金物」という2つの要素である。鍛冶町と紺屋町が肩を並べて存在していたように、紺色がもつ静けさと、金属素材のもつ硬質な質感が、対立することなく空間の中で共存し、互いを引き立て合う関係をつくり出している。紺色はタイルやファブリックへと展開され、空間全体にやわらかな統一感をもたらしている。
また、自然石や和紙照明、植栽といった和の要素を随所に取り入れることで、この土地が内包してきた時間の層をすくい上げ、素材のラフさの中に静かな余白を与えている。
1階のカフェエリアと2階のオフィスエリアは、既存の構造体に沿って緩やかに構成され、用途の違いを超えてひとつながりの空気感を共有する。街の記憶を受け止めながら、これからの営みにそっと寄り添う場所となることを目指した。

The Kanda district was once home to “Kajimachi,” where blacksmiths gathered, and “Kon’yamachi,” where indigo dyers made their living, which stood side by side. Drawing inspiration from the historical relationship etched into this land, this project was conceived around “coexistence” as the space’s central theme.
The spatial composition is centered on two key elements—the “indigo blue” and “metalwork”—which symbolize the neighborhood’s history. Just as Kaji-machi and Konya-machi once stood side by side, the tranquility of indigo blue and the hard, textured quality of metal coexist harmoniously within the space without conflict, creating a relationship in which each element complements the other. The navy blue is incorporated into tiles and fabrics, lending a soft sense of unity to the entire space.
Furthermore, by incorporating Japanese elements—such as natural stone, washi paper lighting, and greenery—throughout the space, the design captures the layers of time embedded in this land. It creates a quiet sense of breathing room within the roughness of the materials.
The café area on the first floor and the office area on the second floor are gently arranged along the existing structural framework, sharing a unified atmosphere that transcends their different functions. The goal was to create a place that embraces the town’s memories while gently supporting future activities.
