間口4.3m、奥行き27.3mの長細いプロポーション、かつ周囲に住宅やマンションが建て込んでいる敷地に建つ住宅。
決してよいとは言えない敷地環境だが、心地のよい室内環境をつくり出すため長細い建築の真ん中にリビングを据え、吹き抜けを設けた。さらに、吹き抜けの上部の屋根を持ち上げ、周辺建物の影にならない高さにハイサイドライトを設けて1日中光を取り込めるようにし、煙突効果による通風も確保できるようにした。
長細く、吹き抜けとなるリビングは風圧による壁面のたわみ止めとして、基礎を一部高く持ち上げ、その上部に方杖を設けてパネルにより面を固めた。斜めの方杖パネルは耐震壁としても機能するとともに、ハイライドライトから降り注ぐ光のリフレクターとしても機能している。壁面と方杖パネルは少し磨いた漆喰で仕上げ、光を拡散し柔らかい光に満たされた室内環境をつくり出している。

A house that reorganizes the constraints of dense areas to guide light and wind
A narrow, elongated house with a frontage of 4.3m and a depth of 27.3m, built on a site surrounded by densely packed houses and apartment buildings.
Despite the less-than-ideal site conditions, a comfortable indoor environment was created by placing the living room at the center of the elongated structure and incorporating a double-height space. Furthermore, the roof above the double-height area was raised to a height above the shadows cast by surrounding buildings, allowing high-side windows to be installed. This ensures light enters throughout the day and facilitates ventilation through the chimney effect.
The elongated, double-height living room features a partially raised foundation to counter wind-induced wall deflection. Braces were installed atop this foundation, with panels reinforcing the surface. These diagonal brace panels serve both as seismic walls and as reflectors for light streaming down from the high-side lights. The walls and brace panels are finished with lightly polished plaster, diffusing light and creating a soft, well-lit interior.
