長野県駒ケ根市の駅前商店街に建つ小さな保育園の計画。町と関わり合いながら子供たちが豊かに育っていくこと、子供たちの遊ぶ姿が商店街に賑わいをもたらすことを目指した。
この保育園は未満時に特化した小規模保育施設で、0-2 歳児まで各6名、計18名の子供たちが通う。
商店街に沿うように遊戯室、保育室を配置し、保育園の子供たちと商店街を行き交う人々が相互に「見る、見られる」関係をつくり、交流のきっかけをつくっていく。吹き抜けにネットを張り巡らせた遊戯室や屋外の広場は地域に開放され、保育園に通う子供だけでなく地域の子供やその家族も商店街に呼び込み、多くの交流を生むことを意図している。
前面の木製建具を大きく開くことで商店街と繋がり、中から外、商店街へと遊びが広がり、子供たちは地域の中で育っていく。

A nursery where children's presence brings life to the town
A plan for a small nursery school in the station-front shopping district of Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture. It aims to help children grow richly as they interact with the town, and to have the sight of children playing bring vitality to the shopping district.
This small-scale childcare facility specializes in serving children under 3, accommodating up to 18 children in total—six each for ages 0 to 2.
The playroom and nursery rooms are arranged along the shopping street, creating a mutual “seeing and being seen” relationship between the nursery children and passersby, fostering opportunities for interaction. The playroom, featuring a net-covered atrium, and the outdoor plaza are open to the community. This design aims to draw not only the nursery children but also local children and their families into the shopping district, fostering numerous interactions.
Large wooden doors at the front open fully to connect with the shopping district. Play flows outward from inside to the shopping district, allowing children to grow up within the community.
