〈メルトシーズン – 深圳MixCポップアップストア（Melt Season Shenzhen MixC Pop-up Store）〉は、中国・深圳のショッピングモールに建てられた期間限定の商業ポップアップストアです。

香港を拠点とするMLKKスタジオ（MLKK Studio）が設計を手掛けたプロジェクトであり、職人とのコラボレーションによりキャンプ用タープを用いて彫刻的なドレープをつくり出しています。

「Draped in Time」絶えず変化する「カーテン」の輝きを解き明かす

深圳の活気に満ちた高級ショッピングモールにて、MLKKスタジオは創造的な挑戦に取り組んだ。それは、環境への配慮を保ちつつ、雨や台風にも耐えうる、3カ月間の芸術的なポップアップストアをデザインすることであった。

このプロジェクトは、同ブランドにとって中国国内初のテーマ型期間限定店舗となった。創業者であるミラン・クンデラ（Milan Kundera）の名作『カーテン』に繊細なオマージュを捧げることを意図した。同作は、人生において真の知覚が魂の奥深くに隠されているという思想を探求している。

キャンプ用タープで生み出す芸術的ドレープ

このコンセプトを具現化するため、デザインチームはドレープの芸術を中核テーマに据え、ドレープの優雅さを取り入れつつ、日常的なキャンプ用タープを大胆に主要素材として採用した。

才能ある地元のドレープ職人たちと協力し、チームは200ヤードの普通のアウトドア用キャンプタープ生地を、魅惑的な彫刻的な形態へと変貌させた。この巧みなドレープの覆いは、店舗を包み込むだけでなく、チームと仕立て職人が心を込めてつくり上げた芸術の絶妙な表現でもある。

丁寧に仕立てられたドレープは、雨や台風にも耐えるだけでなく、環境に配慮した選択でもある。地元の職人技と素材を使用することで、空間の文化的背景がさらに豊かになり、ブランドと地域コミュニティとのつながりが生まれている。創造性と献身が結集した設置作業は、2晩3日間にわたり行われ、職人技と革新的なデザインによる感動的な共創が実現した。

自然からインスパイアされた優雅な動き

デザインの方向性は、主に2つの側面から構成されている。それは、ドレープの芸術性と、自然の要素や周囲の環境との調和のとれた相互作用である。上部のロッドに沿ってスライドし、下部の固定点を最小限に抑えたこのドレープは、流動的な動きを可能にするよう意図的に設計されており、その形態や形状が変容する可能性を際立たせている。

ドレープは単なるファサードを超え、自然の力によって命を吹き込まれた芸術的表現へと昇華する。生地の柔らかなひだは風に乗って揺れ、うねり、重力の引力や来館者の優しい触れ合いに優雅に応答する。このダイナミックな動きは、絶えず変化する自然の造形を演出しており、都市景観の中で人々の目を惹きつけ、自然環境で目にする光景を彷彿とさせる。

全体として、このポップアップストアのデザインは、来訪者にドレープの芸術が捉える刻々と変化する瞬間を目の当たりにし、その一部となるよう誘うことを意図している。これは、ユニークで思考を刺激する空間を創造するという、ブランドの創造性と取り組みの証となっている。

“Draped in Time: Unmasking the Everchanging Splendor of the Curtain”
In the bustling and prestigious mall of Shenzhen, the studio embarked upon a creative challenge: designing a 3-month artistic pop-up that would gracefully endure rain and typhoons while maintaining environmental responsibility. This venture marked the brand’s inaugural themed limited-time store in the country. The founder sought to delicately reference the respected literary work of Milan Kundera’s “The Curtain,” which explores the idea that life hides true perception deep within the soul.
“Unconventional Elegance: The Artful Transformation of Camping Tarps through Drapery”

To embody this concept, the design team has chosen the art of drapery as the central theme, incorporating the elegance of drapery while boldly utilizing the everyday camping tarp as the primary material. Working in collaboration with talented local drapery seamstresses, the team has transformed 200 yards ordinary outdoor camping tarp fabric into a mesmerizing sculptural form. This crafty drapery envelope not only encompasses the store, but also serves as an exquisite expression of art that thoughtfully created by the team and the fabric tailors.
The carefully crafted drapery not only withstands rain and typhoons but also serves as an environmentally responsible choice. The use of local craftsmanship and materials further enriches the cultural context of the space, creating a connection between the brand and the local community. The installation process, a labor of creativity and dedication, spanned two nights and three days, resulting in an inspiring co-creation between craftsmanship and innovative design.

Dynamic Drapery: The Graceful Movement Inspired by Nature
The design direction encompasses two main aspects: the artistry of the drapery and its harmonious interaction with natural elements and the surrounding environment. Slidable along the top rods, with minimal anchorage points on the bottom, the drapery is intentionally designed to allow for fluid movement, showcasing the potential for transformative changes in its forms and shapes. The drapery surpasses a mere façade, becoming an artistic expression that is animated by the forces of nature. The fabric’s gentle folds sway and undulate with the wind, gracefully responding to the pull of gravity and the gentle touch of the visitors. This dynamic movement curates an ever-changing display of nature’s forms, captivating the eye amidst the urban landscape, reminiscent of the scenes witnessed in natural environments
Overall, the design of the pop-up store intends to invite visitors to witness and participate in the ever-changing moments captured by the art of drapery. It serves as a testament to the brand’s creativity and commitment to creating unique and thought-provoking spaces.
