ベトナム・ハノイにおける、25名のスタッフのためのオフィスのリノベーションプロジェクトである。
従前のオフィスでは執務空間が多くの小さな部屋に分かれていたため、スタッフ間のコミュニケーションや連携が問題視されていた。従って新しいオフィスでは、間仕切りのないオープンなフリーアドレスオフィスとして、活発なコミュニケーションを誘発することが求められた。
オンラインでは得られない、ひとつの建築空間に人が集うことで生まれる相乗効果やセレンディピティをもたらすオフィス、そして何よりもスタッフの一人一人が毎朝通う職場に対して心躍るような場所になることを志向した計画である。
220m²の限られたインテリアの床面積で、自然の中にいるような自由さ、おおらかさを感じられるようにするため、オフィス空間をランドスケープとして捉えることを設計のコンセプトとした。いわば公園の中を歩きながら自分の好みの居場所を見つけるような感覚である。
奥行15mのインテリアに多様な空間のバリエーションを生み出すために、人の行き来する長手方向に直行して短手方向に5種類の異なる仕上げ材のストライプを連続させた。27本のストライプの中に緑のレイヤーを織り込むことで、人々の活動と緑が重なり合う立体的な層状のリズムをつくり出した。
床全体に広がるストライプは、浮き上がり滑らかに家具の一部となり、再び浮き上がって壁をかたちづくる。ある床はベンチになり、次の床は収納になり、別の床はテーブルとプランターボックスになり、そのうちのいくつかはマネージャーブースや個別ブースの間仕切りへと変化していく。気持ちや仕事の種類に応じて、その時に一番過ごしたいスペースを高低差によってつくられるランドスケープの中から見つけ出すことができる。
オフィスの利用が始まりしばらくすると、人々は空間をより創造的な方法で利用し始めた。リラックスワーキングコーナーは時に瞑想スペースになり、ガラステーブルのまわりには人だかりができて自然と打合せが始まる。そして自分のお気に入りのプランターボックスに好きな植物や花を植えている人もいる。
現在、オフィスは仕事をする場所以上のものになり、人々の意識、モチベーションはストライプのリズムが隆起するように高揚している。（丹羽隆志）
Offices with three-dimensional stripes to encourage creativity
This is an office renovation project for 25 staff members in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The previous office space was divided into many small rooms, which made communication and collaboration among staff members problematic. Therefore, the new office was to be an open, free-address office with no partitions to induce active communication.
The plan was to create an office that would bring about synergy and serendipity by bringing people together in a single architectural space, something that cannot be achieved online, and above all, where each staff member would feel excited to go to work every morning.
To create a feeling of freedom and openness in the limited interior floor space of 220 m², as if one were in nature, the design concept was to consider the office space as a landscape. In other words, it is like walking through a park and finding your favorite place to be.
To create a variety of spatial variations in the 15m deep interior, we created a series of stripes of five different finishing materials in the short and long directions, perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of human traffic. 27 layers of greenery were woven into the stripes to create a three-dimensional layered rhythm of overlapping greenery and human activity. The stripes, which spread across the entire floor, are floating stripes.
The stripes spread across the floor, floating up and smoothly becoming part of the furniture, then floating back up again to form the walls. One floor becomes a bench, the next a storage area, another a table and planter boxes, some of which become partitions for manager’s booths and individual booths. Depending on your mood and the type of work you are doing, you can find the space you most want to spend time in at that moment in the landscape created by the differences in elevation.
After a short period of office use, people began using the space more creatively. The relaxing working corner sometimes became a meditation space, and meetings spontaneously gathered around the glass tables. And some people plant their favorite plants and flowers in their favorite planter boxes.
Today, the office has become more than a workplace, and people’s awareness and motivation are rising like the uplifting rhythm of stripes. (Takashi Niwa)
