徳島県鳴門市の竹林が茂る川沿いに計画した、夫婦2人と犬2匹が暮らす住宅。
南北に細長い計画地は、北側に工場、西側に新しい住宅が並び、南側は畑、東側は河川敷に竹林が生い茂る川が流れている。敷地の有効活用とプライバシー確保、日射取得を考慮し、建物を西側に寄せて東側の竹林に向けて開く平面構成とした。
天井高さを変化させる折板状の屋根と折れながら繋がる外壁は、リビング、ダイニング、フリースペースなど各エリアをパーティションのように分けながら、外部へと続いていく。外部へ延長された折り壁は、折れていることで自立する塀になり、竹林方向へと連続することによって、住宅地のスケールから河川、農地のスケールへとパースをきかせながら、ゆるやかに意識をつなげる。
また室内からは、柱→方立→竹林（縦材）がランダムに立ち並びながらもグラデーションのように細くなっていくことで、柱と方立が風景として竹林に溶け込む。それにより室内から外への意識が自然に繋がっていく。
室内は、生活の一部に車と犬が入り込むため、一体感を感じながらも適度な距離感を保つようワンルームの空間としながら、用途ごとにレベルの異なる3つのフロア（車のフロア、犬のフロア、人のフロア）の断面構成とした。
車のフロアから1段上がった犬のフロアを庭と同レベルにし、仕上げを全面土間とすることで庭とのつながりが生まれ、庭への行き来と通風確保を可能とする。そこから1m上がったレベルを人のフロアとし、大型犬の抜け毛が人の生活空間に上がらないようにし、お互いが自由にストレスなく暮らせるように配慮した。
車のフロアで作業する旦那さん、犬のフロアで歩き回る大型犬、人のフロアでキッチンに立つ奥さんがいつもお互いの気配を感じながら暮らすことができる。（三宅正浩＋吉本英正）
A folded-walled house with pillars and mullion leading to a bamboo grove
This plan is to design a residential house located along a riverbank with bamboo groves in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, for a married couple and their two dogs.
The long and narrow site stretches from north to south; there is a factory on the north, new residential houses line up on the west, fields on the south, and a river lush with bamboo groves along with the bank flow on the east.
To fully utilize the site upon consideration of the ways to keep privacy and gain daylight, the plan of the building is brought closer to the western side while opening up to the bamboo groves on the eastern side.
The outer wall that is connected to the folded-plate roof, which changes the height of the ceiling, separates different areas like the living room, dining room, and the free space into partitions while allowing those spaces to continue to the outside.
The folding wall that is extended to the exterior becomes a self-supporting wall due to the folding. By connecting it to the direction of the bamboo grove, it links our consciousness from the scale of the residential area to the rivers and the agricultural land with perspective.
Also, from indoors, the pillars > mullions > bamboo groves (vertical elements) line up randomly and gradually becomes thinner, allowing the pillars and mullions to blend in with the view of the bamboo groves. Again, it naturally connects our consciousness from the indoor space to the outside.
To incorporate both the cars and dogs as part of the owners’ everyday lives and to keep a moderate sense of distance while maintaining unity, the interior is designed as a single space but with three floors (floor for cars, floor for dogs, and floor for the owners) in sections depending on the different usage.
The floor for the dogs, which is at the same level as the garden, is one step above the floor for cars, and by finishing it as a dirt floor, it makes it easier to connect with the garden and ensures ventilation. From there, the floor for humans is raised 1 meter high, in consideration that both the owner and dogs can live stress-free by avoiding things like the fallen dog fur interfering with the living space.
The husband working on the floor for cars, the large-breed dogs wandering around the floor for dogs, and the wife in the kitchen on the floor for humans – they can all lead their everyday lives while acknowledging each other’s existence. (Masahiro Miyake + Hidemasa Yoshimoto)
