傾斜のある古くからある分譲地に建つ家。周囲は住宅に囲まれており、いかにプライバシーを保ちながら、開放的な空間を創ることができるかを目指した。
クライアントの夫婦は本をこよなく愛しており、その本たちとともに暮らせる家を、そして室内室外を問わず開放的に過ごせる空間を、外観に関してはどことなく和なイメージを希望していた。
そこでファサードにはほぼ窓は設けず、山採りのマツをメインツリーに採用。外壁は、神社仏閣の屋根に使用される一文字葺きの葺き方を壁に採用し、銅ではなくガルバリウム鋼板の一文字葺きとした。一般的に和のイメージは下屋根があり化粧柱の瓦屋根をイメージするが、前にも述べたような神社仏閣などの材料をイメージさせることにより、新しく解釈をした和がイメージできた。
私はあまり好きな言葉ではないが、「和風」や「洋風」の一般的なイメージを建築家自ら解釈を変えていくことにより可能性が広がるように思う。（殿村明彦）
An open house that expresses harmony by reinterpreting the materials
The house is built on an old subdivision with a slope.

The client couple loves books and wanted a house where they can live with their books, space where they can spend time in an open space regardless of whether it is inside or outside, and a somewhat Japanese image for the exterior.
Therefore, there are almost no windows on the facade.
A pine tree from the mountain was used as the main tree.
We adopted the Ichimonji thatching method for the roofs of shrines and temples for the exterior walls.
Instead of copper, we used galvanized steel sheet with a single letter roof. Generally, the image of harmony is a tiled roof with a decorative pillar and a lower roof. Still, by evoking the image of materials used in shrines and temples, as I mentioned before, I was able to imagine a new interpretation of harmony.
I do not like the words “Japanese style” and “Western-style. However, by changing the interpretation of the public image of Japanese or Western style, we can expand the possibilities. (Akihiko Tonomura)
