波乗りを生きがいとする夫婦（＋子供1人）のための小住宅。
ポイントのすぐそばに位置し、窓からは波の状況がうかがえる。
都内から葉山、そしてここ秋谷へと移り住み、海に近づくにつれて家は小さくなった。
小さくなったのは与条件（予算）によるものだが、結果的には生活スタイルにぴったりフィットした。
旗竿敷地の旗の部分、その真ん中に2間×5間（＝10坪）の2層のボリュームを置いた。
同時に、海側と隣家側それぞれに奥行約1間の余地ができる。海側は2階にバルコニーが張り出し、軒下となる1階は物干しや物置（バルコニーの手すりが下りてきてハンガーとなる）、隣家側は間近に建つ隣家との緩衝帯として働く。
建物の1階は車庫、玄関を兼ねる物置、浴室。2階はリビング、キッチン、寝室（可動間仕切りで一部客室にもなる）、そして上部に小屋裏物置をもち、ここが子供室になる。
都内への変則時間帯の通勤も含めて生活にクルマが欠かせない。毎晩充電もする。竿部分に置いていては用を足せないので建物ボリュームのなかに入れた。車庫はいわばクルマ室。
玄関兼物置には遊び道具、自転車、衣類、書類などあらゆるものが収納される。平面的には足りないので高さで補った。ロングボードを立てることができる。浴室上部も収納に活かした。浴室へは外から直接出入りができる。
2階のわずか10坪（＋小屋裏物置4.5坪）に主な生活スペースが詰め込まれている。最小限といってもよい狭さ。そして、どこからも、相模湾の波がみえる。
この家はすこし歪だ。小さいわりに背が高かったり、サーバントスペースのほうが広かったり、諸室の大きさのバランスも。住人の生活スタイルに導かれてそうなった。もし仮に「大きな」家であれば、基本セットとでもいうべきものにオプションとして付加される機能、それらを「小さな」家で実現するには、家のかたち（形態ではなく構成）が変わらなければならなかった。家が変異したのだ。（矢部達也）
A distorted compact house for a surfing family
A small house for a couple (+ 1 child) who live for surfing.
Located near the point, they can see the wave conditions from the window.
They moved from Tokyo to Hayama and then to Akiya, and as they got closer to the ocean, the house got smaller.
The house was smaller due to the given conditions (budget), but the result was a house that fit perfectly with the lifestyle.
In the flag section of the flagpole site, a two-story volume of 3.6m x 9m (=33m²) was placed in the middle of the flag section.
At the same time, a room with a depth of approximately 1.8m was created on the seaside and the neighbor’s side, respectively. On the ocean side, a balcony extends over the second floor, while the first floor under the eaves serves for drying and storage (the balcony railing comes down to serve as a hanger), and the side next to the house acts as a buffer zone between the house and the neighboring house.
The first floor consists of a garage, a storage room that also serves as the entrance, and a bathroom, while the second floor consists of a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom (which can be partially converted into a guest room with a movable partition), and a storage room in the upper part of the building, which serves as the children’s room.
The car is indispensable for his daily life and irregular commuting hours. The car is charged every night. The car is placed in the volume of the building because it is not possible to use it on the pole part. The garage is the car room.
The entrance and storage room are where all kinds of things are stored, including playthings, bicycles, clothes, and documents. The height of the garage is compensated for by the height of the building. A longboard can be put up. The upper part of the bathroom is also used for storage. The bathroom can be accessed directly from the outside.
The main living space is packed into a mere 33m² (+ 15m² of storage space behind the shed) on the second floor. The space is so small that it can be said to be minimal. The waves of Sagami Bay can be seen from everywhere.
The house is a little distorted. It is tall in spite of its small size, the servant space is larger, and the size of the various rooms is not balanced. The balance of the various room sizes is also distorted. If it were a “big” house, the basic set of features would be added as options, but in order to realize them in a “small” house, the shape of the house (the composition, not the form) had to be changed.
