TEMPORARY STORE OF SSZ /

(English below)

"SSZ temporary store" that proposes sustainability by repeating editing and conversion

Tadayuki Kato, the buyer and director of the select store BEAMS held a limited-time store〈TEMPORARY STORE OF SSZ〉at the POP-UP space in MIYASHITA PARK in Shibuya.
As a brand that expresses surf and skate culture, this was the first time for SSZ, which has a store in the corner of BEAMS Harajuku store, to open a store in a commercial facility.

The design requirement for this facility was to use the pre-made fixtures, furniture, lighting, etc., that were available at the facility during the approximately two-month period of the exhibition.
Nowadays, when designing and planning a POP-UP, it is necessary to have outputs from various perspectives, such as “expression and management of the brand’s world view in a short period,” “attracting customers and increasing sales with the low initial investment,” and “approach from a sustainable perspective.
This time, I went through a trial-and-error process of staging the store as SSZ, taking into account the above conditions and issues.

To express Mr. Kato’s unique sense of style, which he named “SSZ’s temporary store” as a subtitle, instead of planning extensive construction and finishing, Mr. Kato himself put stickers all over the walls. He displayed skateboards and figures so that visitors can enter into the philosophy of SSZ itself.

This time, we also tried to transform the function. We rented folding containers that are actually used for transporting products from the BEAMS distribution center, and piled them up to display the products in a conceptual setup. The container will be returned after the exhibition and will return to its original function as a transport box.
The POP-UP STORE was created through a series of edits and conversions, including original cardboard boxes and vinyl tape with the logo.
This style consists of stickers, containers, and a minimum of fixtures and can be expressed anywhere as long as there is space. This is precisely what Mr. Kato envisioned for his “SSZ temporary store” this time.
The next venue could be a skateboard park or a parking lot by the sea… the imagination runs wild. (BEAMS CREATIVE)
