敷地は所沢駅から徒歩圏内の住宅地にあり、古くからの農家の屋敷が多く、住民同士の関係や生活文化も色濃く残っている。
施主の要望は、今までのように玄関脇に来客用の応接室、縁側での作業や住民同士の談話スペース、開放的で風通しがよく、暑さ寒さにも万全な住まいだった。
施主が高齢のため、上がり下がりが少ない平屋とした。敷地の北側は桜の名所として知られる東川に面しており、建物の南北に開口部を設けることにより家中に風が通り抜けるようにした。
大屋根を架けて軒を深くし、雨や夏場の日差しから住まいを守り、外壁の熱負荷を少なくした。縁側は光沢のあるタイルを張り、差し込む日差しがタイル面に反射することで内部空間が明るくなるようにした。
外壁デザインは、古くからの住宅や蔵の地域性を取り入れて漆喰壁の外壁とした。春は散った桜の花びらが東川に浮かぶ。雨垂れ石に薄いピンクの天然石を敷き、桜の季節に東川に浮かぶ花びらの延長上にあるような、桜の水面に浮かぶ住まいとした。
間取りは自然と家族が集まるような空間全体がのびやかなリビングになるようにした。
来客が多く、地域や仕事上の来客、親戚、親族によって招き入れる空間を変えることができるようにするため、施主と来客の動線を工夫し、間仕切りを可変できるようにした。環境が人に合わせるのではなく、環境が人に合わせてくれるように環境の変化も楽しめる住まいをデザインした。（水野憲司）
A house where people gather, inheriting the scenery of the area
The site is located in a residential area within walking distance from Tokorozawa Station. There are many old farmhouses, and the relationship between the residents and their lifestyle culture is still strong.
The client’s request was for a reception room for visitors by the entrance as before, a space for working on the porch and chatting with other residents, and a house that is open, well ventilated, and fully resistant to heat and cold.
Because the client is elderly, I decided to build a one-story house with few rises and falls. The north side of the site faces the Azuma River, which is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, and we created openings on the north and south sides of the building to allow the wind to flow through the house.
A large roof with deep eaves protects the house from rain and summer sun and reduces the heat load on the exterior walls. In addition, the edge of the house is covered with glossy tiles, which reflect the sunlight and brighten the interior space.
The exterior wall design incorporates the local characteristics of old houses and warehouses with plaster walls. In spring, scattered cherry blossom petals float on the Higashi River. A pale pink natural stone was laid on the raindrops to create a residence that floats on the surface of the cherry blossoms as if it were an extension of the petals floating on the Higashi River during the cherry blossom season.
The floor plan was designed so that the entire space becomes a spacious living room where the family naturally gathers.
To change the inviting space depending on the region, business guests, relatives, etc., we devised a flow line for the owner and guests and made the partitions variable. We designed the house so that people can enjoy the changes in the environment so that the environment adapts to people rather than people adapting to the environment. (Kenji Mizuno)
