Alibaba Japanのオフィス増床に伴う内装設計。オフィスビル27階の増床エリアに対し「社内外会議エリア」と「社内執務エリア」の2つの空間を求められた。
コロナを経て、他者との協働やコミュニケーションがオフィスの価値になりつつあるなか、その主体となる社内外会議室をまずは優先的に眺望のよい窓面に配置し、ラウンジをコア側に、それらに隣接するかたちで社内執務エリアを設けた。
セキュリティにより分節された2つの空間を設計する際、それぞれを別空間として設計するのではなく、2つの空間を構成する要素が両空間をまたがったり、片方の構成要素が片方の別要素になったりと、両空間を分節しつつも一体的な空間となる方法を考えた。具体的にいうと、会議エリア側のラウンジの天井・床は、そのまま執務エリア側の天井・床として、10mずつの合計20mの巨大なルーバー天井とフローリング床として両空間にまたがり形成している。加えて、会議エリア側の会議室を構成する壁面は、動線を超えて延長し、両空間を分節するガラス間仕切りのマリオンになりつつ、その壁面端部は執務エリア側にとっての鉛直照明となる。
これにより両空間の境界面の存在が弱まり、エリア全体が一体的に感じられるオフィス空間となった。あわせて、会議エリアと執務エリアの空間的設えに差をつくらず等価に扱い、どちらも気持ちのよい空間性になることを意識した。社外・社内を分け隔てなく、行き来しながら柔軟に働けるオフィス空間を目指した。（金井 亮）
A flexible office with ceiling and floor crossings that create a sense of unity
Interior design for Alibaba Japan’s office expansion. The client required two spaces, an “internal and external meeting area” and an “internal office area,” for the additional floor space on the 27th floor of the office building.
After the covid-19 infectious disease, collaboration and communication with others became an office value. The internal and external meeting rooms, the main focus of such collaboration and communication, were first placed on the windows with good views.
When designing the two spaces divided by security, we did not design each space as a separate space but rather considered ways to create a unified space while dividing the two spaces, such as by having elements of the two spaces straddle each other or having one component become another element of the other. Specifically, the ceiling and floor of the lounge on the conference area side are directly used as the ceiling and floor on the office area side, forming a huge louvered ceiling and wooden floor spanning both spaces, 10 meters each, for a total of 20 meters. In addition, the wall surface of the conference room on the meeting area side extends beyond the flow line and becomes a glass partition mullion dividing the two spaces, while the edge of the wall surface becomes vertical lighting for the office area side.
This weakens the boundary between the two spaces, creating an office space that makes the entire area feel integrated. At the same time, the spatial arrangement of the meeting and office areas was treated equally, without any difference, to create a pleasant spatiality in both areas. The goal was to create an office space where people could work flexibly while coming and going between the office and the company, without dividing the office and the company. (Ryo Kanai)
