本計画は、大開口の造作開口、土間仕上げのリビングにすることで屋外との繋がりを曖昧にし、家と街、人と人が繋がることをコンセプトした住宅である。建物の4隅には住宅としての機能を配し、東西南北に大開口を設けることで風が流れ、人とのコミュニケーションが生まれる空間を実現した。外壁と瓦は地元新潟の材料を使用し地材地建にも貢献した。
室内と室外をシームレスに繋げるために、LDKという暮らし方ではなく十字に土間を設けた。そうすることで土足での生活も可能とし、室内と室外をシームレスに繋ぐデザインとした。東西には造作の大開口を設け、全開口すると、まるで外にいるかのような開放的な室内空間にした。オープンな間取りながらも断熱性能はUa値0.34のHEAT20G2グレードを達成し、エアコン1台での冷暖房を可能とし、また薪ストーブも使用することで視覚的にもより暖かい住環境とすることができる。
外壁には地元新潟の魚沼杉板を使用し、瓦には同じく地元材である安田瓦を使用し、この地域の風景をつくることを意図した。外観は大きな切妻屋根が掛かったシンプルなデザインとし、年が経つごとに外壁の魚沼杉材が風景としてそこに溶け込んで馴染んでいくようにデザインした。（石田伸一）
A residence with a large opening and a cross-shaped earthen floor connecting inside and outside
This project is a residence that conceptually connects the house to the town and people to each other by blurring the boundary between the indoors and outdoors through large openings in the built-ins and a living room with an earthen floor finish. The four corners of the building are arranged to serve as residences, and large openings on the east, west, south, and north sides create a space where the wind flows and communication between people is facilitated. The exterior walls and roof tiles are made of local Niigata materials, contributing to the use of local materials and construction methods.
To seamlessly connect the rooms, a cross-shaped earthen floor was created instead of an LDK. This design enables living with bare feet and a seamless connection between the interior and exterior. Large openings were made on the east and west sides of the house, and when fully opened, the interior space was as open as if it were outside. Despite the open floor plan, the insulation achieved a HEAT20G2 grade with a Ua value of 0.34, enabling heating and cooling with a single air conditioner. The use of a wood-burning stove visually creates a warmer living environment.
The exterior walls are made of local Niigata Uonuma cedar shingles, and the roof tiles are Yasuda tiles, also made from local materials, to create a landscape that reflects the area. The exterior features a simple design with a large gable roof, carefully crafted to allow the Uonuma cedar wood on the exterior walls to blend seamlessly into the landscape over time.
