石川県白山市の古い建物が立ち並ぶ閑静な住宅街。東、南、西の三方に建物が建ち、北側に道路があるこの土地には光があまり届かない印象があった。クライアントからはプライバシーを保つことと明るい室内というリクエストがあったので、北側に光庭があるコートハウスを選択した。
北側に12帖の大きな光庭を設け、太陽光を受ける仕掛けをつくり間接光を室内に届ける。道路側にはいっさい窓を設けていないのでプライバシーは保たれる。コートハウスはこの住宅街にもっとも適したつくりだったように思う。（稲森予人）
A quiet residential neighborhood in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, lined with old buildings. This plot, surrounded by buildings on the east, south, and west sides with a road to the north, gave the impression of receiving little light. The client requested both privacy and bright interiors, so we selected a courtyard house design featuring a light well on the north side.
A large 12-tatami-mat light court was created on the north side, incorporating mechanisms to capture sunlight and deliver indirect light into the rooms. No windows were placed on the roadside to ensure privacy. The courtyard house seemed the most suitable design for this residential neighborhood. (Yasuhito Inamori)
