時の移ろいを映す、グラデーショナルな青のレストラン

〈303 SHIRAHAMA ITALIAN〉は和歌山県白浜町・円月島の向かいで先代が営んでいた民宿を改装したイタリアンレストランである。
南紀白浜の名の由来にもなった白良浜は関西屈指の美しいビーチであり、現地を訪れると街は白良浜の海とともに広がっている。そこには人が集い、街と海の強い繋がりを感じる。この関係性のように〈303 SHIRAHAMA ITALIAN〉もこの地と結びつくデザインにしたいと考えた。

ファサードから覗けるダイニングエリアは、パーティションで構成されている。これはブルーのグラデーションフィルムを重ねたポリカーボネートのパーティションである。敷地の前に広がる海の景色をインテリアに映し込むと同時に、ダイニングエリアと奥にある個室とのプライバシーを曖昧にしつつ確保する役目、そして外構からのアイキャッチとして施している。ポリカーボネートは表と裏を繋ぐリブ材があり、光を屈折して映す。この特性を活かし現地を訪れた際、海で感じた陽の光によって表情を変える海景をインスピレーションに、ペンダントとブラケット照明がパーティションと重なるように配置し、光を乱反射させている。パーティションの表面はほのかに艶があるため、窓から差し込む陽入りは映り込み、時間とともに表情が変化する。ポリカーボ以外にもSUSヘアラインやリブガラスなど、映り込みや屈折の表情が豊かなマテリアル、それらと対比するような青の左官、モルタルや石灰岩柄のタイルなどで構成している。外部とシームレスで繋がった景色を取り込みつつ、光の屈折や映り込みによって白浜のエレメントを昇華させ、没入感のある空間を狙った。

A restaurant with a gradient of blues that reflects the passage of time

〈303 SHIRAHAMA ITALIAN〉 is an Italian restaurant located in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, across from Engetsu Island. It was created by renovating a guesthouse previously run by the previous owner.
Shirahama Beach, which gave the region its name, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Kansai area. When you visit the area, you see the town stretching out alongside the sea at Shirahama Beach. People gather there, and you can feel the strong connection between the town and the sea. We wanted the design of 〈303 SHIRAHAMA ITALIAN〉 to reflect this relationship and connect with the local landscape.

The dining area visible from the façade is composed of partitions. These are polycarbonate partitions with a blue gradient film layer. They reflect the ocean view stretching out in front of the property into the interior, while simultaneously blurring and maintaining privacy between the dining area and the private rooms in the back, and serving as an eye-catching feature from the exterior. The polycarbonate features ribs connecting the front and back, which refract and reflect light. Taking advantage of this characteristic and inspired by the ever-changing seascape illuminated by the sunlight observed during a site visit, pendant and bracket lights were positioned to overlap with the partitions, creating a diffuse reflection of light. Because the partitions have a subtle sheen, sunlight streaming in through the windows reflects off them, causing the appearance to shift over time. In addition to polycarbonate, the design incorporates materials that reflect and refract light, such as hairline-finished stainless steel and ribbed glass, contrasted with blue plaster, mortar, and limestone-patterned tiles. While seamlessly integrating the exterior view, the design aims to create an immersive space by enhancing the elements of Shirahama through light refraction and reflection.
