富山市内の静かな住宅街に建つ住宅の新築計画である。
施主はアンティーク家具店を営むご夫婦である。要望としては、アンティーク家具や照明、建具が映えるデザインであることと、庭と暮らしが密接にあることであった。定期的に行く海外の買い付け先で招かれた住まいで感じた、庭が一体的にある暮らしに惹かれたため、住宅においても常に庭を感じられる住まいを求められた。
敷地は間口約6.5m、奥行き約25mと細長く、敷地南側（前面道路と反対側）に庭を設けた場合に、住まいの一部からしか庭を感じられない。そのため、ここでは細長い敷地を分割して庭と住まいを平行に配置したことで、アプローチ、玄関、リビングダイニングキッチン、2階からも廊下の掃出し窓を通してどこからも庭を感じられ、暮らしの一部に常に庭がある空間となった。
メタリックな外観が目を引き、鏡面アルミの戸を開けると植物の緑とアンティークドアが印象的にアプローチを彩る。庭を覆う深い軒はアプローチの雨雪避けでもあるが、方杖を連続させることで手前から奥へのパースを強調している。土間コンクリートと白黒を基調としたシンプルなインテリアにコーディネートされたアンティーク家具、建具や照明が映える。（沼 俊之）
A residence built parallel to the garden
This is a new construction project for a residence in a quiet residential neighborhood within Toyama City.
The clients are a couple who own and operate an antique furniture store. Their requests were for a design that would showcase their antique furniture, lighting, and fixtures, as well as a home where the garden and daily life were closely integrated. Having been captivated by the sense of living in harmony with the garden at homes they were invited to during their regular overseas buying trips, they sought a residence where the garden could always be felt.
The site is narrow and elongated, measuring approximately 6.5 meters in width and 25 meters in depth. Placing the garden on the south side (opposite the front road) meant the garden would only be visible from part of the house. Therefore, the narrow site was divided, placing the garden and living spaces parallel to each other. This allows the garden to be felt from everywhere: the approach, the entrance, the living-dining-kitchen area, and even from the second floor through the sliding windows in the hallway. This creates a space where the garden is always part of daily life.
The metallic exterior catches the eye. Opening the mirror-finish aluminum door reveals an approach vividly colored by the greenery and an antique door. The deep eaves covering the garden provide shelter from rain and snow for the approach, while the continuous struts emphasize the perspective from near to far. Antique furniture, fixtures, and lighting stand out beautifully against the simple interior coordinated with earthen concrete and a black-and-white color scheme. (Toshiyuki Numa)
