土地に呼応する枡形の路地構成をもつ住宅

目の前に日本海を臨む敷地一帯は、リアス海岸が広がるダイナミックな地形の景勝地として知られ、周辺は迷路のように入り組んだ路地が独特の街並みをつくり出している。これは北風が吹き抜けるのを防ぐため交差部がクランクした枡形構成という、この地域ならではの特色である。この特有の路地構成を1階平面に取り入れることで建築ボリュームを分節し、周辺環境との調和を図っている。

外観やエントランスホールはリアス海岸をモチーフとした地形のような構成となっており、南側においては建築形状を上階に向かってセットバックさせ、丘のような形状とすることで街並みとの連続性を確保している。

一方、北側は立体的な枡形構成のような形状とすることで、北風が街へ吹き抜けるのを防ぐことを意図している。外部仕上げに関しては、下部が岩肌で上部に木が生い茂るリアス海岸の外観的特徴を建築にも呼応させるべく、下層には洗い出しによって骨材を露わにした岩肌のようなコンクリートを、上層には杉板型枠による木目調のコンクリートを採用した。この2段構成は、内部空間の仕上げにも適用することで建築との統一感をつくり出し、内外の一体感の醸成にも貢献している。

A residence featuring a grid-patterned alleyway layout that responds to the land

The site, overlooking the Sea of Japan, is renowned for its scenic terrain, featuring dynamic ria coastlines. The surrounding area boasts a unique streetscape formed by labyrinthine, winding alleys. This distinctive feature of the region is the masugata layout, where intersections are cranked to block the passage of north winds. Incorporating this unique alley configuration into the first-floor plan segments the building volume, achieving harmony with the surrounding environment.

The exterior and entrance hall feature a topography-inspired composition reminiscent of the Ria coast. On the south side, the building form is set back toward the upper floors, creating a hill-like shape that ensures continuity with the surrounding streetscape.

Conversely, the north side adopts a three-dimensional, masugata-like form, designed to block the north wind from blowing through the town. For the exterior finishes, the lower section uses exposed aggregate concrete resembling rock surfaces, while the upper section employs wood-grain concrete formed with cedar formwork. This two-tiered approach echoes the visual characteristics of a rias coastline—rocky at the base and overgrown with trees above. Applying this two-tiered finish to the interior spaces creates a sense of unity with the architecture, contributing to a cohesive feel between inside and outside.
