KADOKAWAと所沢市が共同で進めている「COOL JAPAN FOREST構想」の拠点となる施設、2020年11月にグランドオープンする予定の「ところざわサクラタウン」を構成する施設の1つである。
同タウンは、隈研吾がデザイン監修した〈角川武蔵野ミュージアム〉、出版社であるKADOKAWAの書籍製造・物流工場、イベントスペース、体験型ホテル、商業施設などから成る文化複合施設であり、KADOKAWAの新オフィスもここに置かれる。これはそのオフィスのプロジェクトである。
オフィスの設計にあたり、これからの新しい働き方を考えるため、過去の職と生活について考えた。
古く日本の職は、生活と密接につながっていた。店先があり、連続して生活の場があることで、働くことと暮すことの境目がなく、地域社会とも深い関わりが生まれ、自然とコミュニティの場が形成されてきた。
本プロジェクトでは、地域社会とのつながりや貢献を、複合用途である施設全体で求められ、また、クライアントからは社員の新しい働き方の多様性も求められていた。
そこで、働く場を「フィールド」と捉え、ワンフロア約9,000m²（約2,700坪）という広大なスペースに「地形」をつくり、働きたくなる個性をもった「集落」として考え、高低差によって、景色の変化やそれぞれの場に合わせた多様な居場所が生まれ、混ざり合うようにした。そこでの人々の営みが、会社の活力となり、シームレスに人の活動がつながっていくような空間づくりを目指した。
必要な機能を備えた各エリアをランダムに配置し、床や天井の高低差、ガラスの会議室など、適度なバランスでそれぞれの空間を仕切り、点在する個々のエリアをニュートラルなスペースでつないでいる。また、空間をシームレスに仕切ることで、どこにいても人の気配や自然の光、時間の移ろいを感じることができる、豊かなゾーニングを心がけた。
天井高を低く抑えたスペースでは集中をうながし、逆にスケルトン天井のスペースでは、コミュニケーションワークに適した開放的なインテリアにするなど、作業内容によって適切な場を選ぶアフォーダンスとなっている。
CMF（Color / 色、Material / 素材、Finishing / 仕上げ）においては、バイオフィリックデザインを取り入れ、目に触れ、触感にも訴えるマテリアルを選定し、植栽も計画した。
窓からは自然豊かな所沢の景色を眺めることができ、都内のオフィスにはない、ゆったりとした居心地の良いオフィスとなっている。（プロジェクトマネジメント / ディー・サイン）
An office that creates creativity with "terrain" and "villages" created on one floor of approximately 9,000 square meters
It is one of the facilities that will serve as the base for the “COOL JAPANFOREST CONCEPT,” which is being jointly promoted by KADOKAWA and Tokorozawa City, and the “Tokorozawa Sakura Town,” which will be grandly opened in November 2020.
This town is a cultural complex composed of “Kadokawa Musashino Museum” designed by Kengo Kuma, book manufacturing and distribution factory of publisher KADOKAWA, event space, hands-on hotel, commercial facility, etc. The new office will also be located here. This is a project for that office.
In designing the office, I thought about past jobs and lifestyles to think about new ways of working in the future.
In olden times, Japanese jobs were closely linked to life. There is a storefront, a place for continuous living, no boundaries between working and living, and a deep relationship with the local community that has created nature and a community place.
The project required the entire facility to be connected to and contribute to the local community as a multipurpose facility. And the client also needed diversity in new ways of working for employees.
There, we regarded as the “greenfield” that on a vast space of about 9,000 m² per floor is, and made the “topography” and it is considered as a “village.” We designed and mixed with a variety of whereabouts that adapt to changes and their situations. The aim was to create a space where people’s activities and the company’s vitality could be seamlessly linked to people’s actions.
Each area with the necessary functions is arranged in random space. Each space is divided into neutral spaces by partitioning each space with height differences between floors and ceilings, glass conference rooms, and a suitable balance. Also, by dividing the space seamlessly, I kept in mind the rich zoning that allows you to feel people’s presence, the natural light, and the change of time even if you are anywhere.
The space with low ceilings encourages concentration, while the skeleton-ceilinged area has an open interior suitable for communication work. Depending on the nature of the work, an appropriate place is chosen as an affordance.
And CMF (Color, Material, and Finishing), we adopted a biophilic design, selected materials that appeal to the eyes and touch, and planned to plant.
If you are working in this office, you have a nice view of Tokorozawa with its rich nature. We created a place where you can relax and feel comfortable in a way that can’t in central-city Tokyo. (Project management / DE-SIGN INC.）
