ソーシャル経済メディア「NewsPicks」が手がけるイベントスペースの設計。
日々、膨大な経済ニュースを取り上げ続ける「NewsPicks」の多様な世界を感じられる場所を目指した。
最大300人を収容できる間仕切りのない広い1ルームの中に、18種類のテーブル、65種類の椅子、9種類の照明、10種類の植栽を配置した。それらの組み合わせは約10万通りになる。すべて不定形の曲面家具で平面が構成されており、方向性や使用性を曖昧にしている。
自然の地形のように決められた場所や使われ方がなく、各々の判断の中で好ましい場所や働き方を選択できる状況がつくられることを目指した。
ここを訪れる人々とのさらなる掛け算によって、無限の可能性が生まれることを期待している。（山路哲生）
Design 100,000 ways to use event space with a variety of curved furniture and plants
The design of event space for the social, economic media “NewsPicks.”
We aimed to create a place where the diverse world of “NewsPicks,” which covers a vast amount of economic news daily, can be felt.
The large, un-partitioned room, which can accommodate up to 300 people, has 18 types of tables, 65 types of chairs, nine types of lighting, and ten vegetation types. There are about 100,000 different combinations of them. All of the planes are composed of irregularly shaped curved furniture, obscuring their orientation and use.
We aimed to create a situation where people can choose their preferred location and way of working based on their judgment, rather than having a predetermined location and way of using it, just like the natural landscape.
