三田市のニュータウンは、豊かな緑と人々の生活に調和のある街であるが、その中でもひときわ恵まれたのが本敷地であり、南側にある公園の木々の間から北側の森まで、緑に挟まれた本計画地を爽やかな風が通り抜ける。ところが当初建っていた家屋は、せっかくのこのロケーションを東西で分断しており、新計画では南北に風穴をあけることが効果的なのは明らかであった。
かくして出来上がった建物は、天井高さ4.5メートルのLDKを中心とした、風も光も通り抜ける大きなトンネル、あるいは土間の床は通り庭のようでもある。
東西に振り分けられた個室からの動線がここで重なり、住む人が自然と集まる場所になればと思う。
全体を通してミッドセンチュリーをモチーフとした意匠でまとめ、洗練されつつも格式張らない雰囲気は、住む人に憩いの時間を与えるだろう。
ロサンゼルス、あるいはカリフォルニア風の南側のダイナミックな造園は、施主の並々ならぬ熱意によるもので、建築からは水盤の水と白セメント製のベンチを提供し、室内からの連続性もあり、見てよし・居てよしの庭である。
経年により取り囲む木々が育ち、よりプライベート感を強くし、また古木のオリーブの成長も楽しみである。
外壁材も白華現象を含め経年変化を楽しむことのできるサイディングとしたほか、黒皮鉄板で仕上げたキッチン、ムラのあるセメント板をそのまま利用した壁、各所に現れるさまざまなアクセントカラーなど、仕上げ材の見どころも富んでいる。
設計者としては、極限までスリム化した軽量感のある庇・軒先・ガラスの吊り橋、ガラス枠を細くし、あるいは隠すことで外部との一体感を強めた窓などが注目してほしいポイントだ。（大江一夫）
A mansion with a wind cave in the north and south to strengthen the sense of unity with the outside
The New Town of Mita City is a town with abundant greenery and harmony in the lives of its people, and this site is particularly blessed among them, with a refreshing breeze blowing through the site, which is sandwiched between the trees of the park to the south and the forest to the north. However, the original house divided the site into east and west, and it was clear that a north-south orientation would be more effective for the new project.
The result is a large tunnel with a 4.5-meter-high LDK at its center, through which wind and light pass, or perhaps the earthen floor are like a street garden.
I hope that the flow lines from the private rooms, divided into east and west, will overlap here to create a natural gathering place for the residents.
The entire design is based on a mid-century motif, and the refined but not formal atmosphere will give the residents time to relax.
The dynamic landscaping on the south side of the house, in the style of Los Angeles or California, results from the client’s extraordinary enthusiasm. The architecture provides a water basin and white cement benches, and there is continuity from the interior, making the garden an excellent place to see and be seen.
As the trees surrounding the garden grow over the years, it becomes more private, and we look forward to seeing the growth of the old olive trees.
The exterior walls are made of siding that can be enjoyed as it changes over time, including the phenomenon of white staining. There are also many highlights in the finishing materials, such as the kitchen finished with black iron sheets, the walls made of uneven cement boards, and the various accent colors that appear in various places.
As a designer, I would like to draw your attention to the eaves, eaves, and glass suspension bridges, which have been slimmed down to the utmost limit to give a sense of lightness, and the windows, which have been made thinner or hidden to strengthen the sense of unity with the outside. (Kazuo Oe)
