鹿児島中央駅からアーケード続きで行ける中古の店舗兼住宅をリノベーションした。物件は随分前から空き家で、解体更地渡しとして売りに出されていたが、物も片付いて悪い印象をもたなかったため自分の住まいとして購入に踏み切った。
印象は悪くなかったと書いたが、日照は皆無だったため、屋根に天窓を設け、階段をスリット状にして光の射すプランとした。1階は事務所として使いやすいよう板土間とし、少人数の打ち合わせが行える空間となっている。また、少しでも街並みをよくするために玄関を60㎝セットバックさせ植栽スペースを設けた。
居住空間は商店街の騒音から回避するため2・3階にまとめ、光という景色を天窓から取り込み眺められる食卓と台所となっている。
光のルーバーの役割となっている階段は鉄骨で製作。踏み板は鉄板6mmとかなり薄くシャープだが、足触りを考慮し、踏み板のみ豚革を巻いている。開口部には、麻布を用いた建具を設え、外部の視線を遮りながら風と北側からの安定した光を取り込むためる計画とした。素材の選択として簾などもあるが、予算がなかったため園芸用資材を簾に見立てて製作している。（中村圭吾）
Office and housing renovation along the arcade
We renovated a used store and a house which an arcade can reach from Kagoshima Chuo station. The house had been vacant for a long time, and it was sold as a demolished and cleared house. However, things were tidy, and the impression was not wrong, so I decided to buy it as my residence.
The first floor has an earthen floor for easy use as an office and a space for small meetings. The first floor has a wooden floor for office use and a space for small meetings.
The living space is located on the second and third floors to avoid the noise of the shopping street, and the dining table and kitchen are designed to take in the view of the light from the skylight.
The staircase, which serves as a louver of light, is made of steel. The stair boards are quite thin and sharp, made of a 6mm steel plate, but only the stair boards are wrapped with pigskin for a comfortable feel. The openings were designed with linen fittings to let in wind and steady light from the north side while blocking the view from the outside. A bamboo screen was another option, but gardening materials were used as a bamboo screen due to a lack of budget. (Keigo Nakamura)
