敷地は出雲平野の北部、平田町の市街地にあり、西に商業施設が建ち並び生活に便利な場所である。一方で東や南へ行くと田畑が広がり、石州瓦の家が散在する典型的な出雲平野の風景が広がっている。もともと耕作地であったこの土地は周囲の家とも適度な距離をもっていて、かつ一家4人が暮らすのには十分な広さがある理想的な場所であった。
現代の生活に必要な機能を満たし、家族や財産を守りながら、かつこの地域の典型的な風景や風土の記憶を継承していけるような佇まいを想像しながら設計をした。（中山大介）
Sekishu tiles and baked cedar outer wall houses that inherit the landscape of the land
The site is located in the urban area of Hirata-cho, in the northern part of the Izumo Plain, where commercial facilities stand to the west, making it a convenient place to live. On the other hand, if you go to the east or south, you will see the typical Izumo Plain landscape with rice fields and houses made of Sekishu tiles scattered around. Cultivated initially land, this was an ideal place to live, with enough space for a family of four and a reasonable distance from the surrounding houses.
I designed the house to fulfill the functions necessary for modern life, protect the family and property, and preserve the memory of the typical landscape and climate of the area. (Daisuke Nakayama)
