エステサロンの内装計画。閉店となった某エステサロンの居抜き状態から計画はスタートした。会員制かつ招待制として運営するため、誰にでも開かれた店舗ではなく、プライバシーに配慮したシークレットな店舗となるように内装の刷新が求められた。
心を穏やかに整え、身体を健やかに保つことで豊かさを実感する。「ウェルビーイング」という言葉に象徴されるように、心身を穏やかで健康に保つことは現代における幸福度を示す指標である。エステサロンという閉ざされた空間において、衣服を脱ぎ裸になって自らの身体をケアすることは、飾らない自分自身と向き合うことでもある。そうした場所に必要なのは、華美に飾られた装飾的な空間ではなく、静かで内省的な中にも品がある空間であるべきだと考えた。
入居するビル自体は大通りに面しており、フロアは間口が狭く奥に細長い。道路側に大きな開口部を設けた路面店としての設えは、一般的には優位な条件であるが、プライバシーに配慮した店づくりを目指すうえでは、逆に不利な条件となる。
そこで外部からの視線を遮るように内側に1枚の壁を立て、外界と室内を隔てるバッファーゾーンとして小さなアプローチをつくった。四角い整形な空間となったラウンジは、全体をウォルナット調の壁で覆い、均整なグリッドに分割することで、静けさと品格を感じさせる空間とした。
施術が行われる個室では同じくウォルナット調をベースに落ち着いた色調で計画し、最小限の照明を用いて柔らかく暖かい光に包まれる空間とした。ペアでの利用を想定したVIPルームは、もともとあった2室を1室へと統合して大空間を確保し、サウナと水風呂を併設している。
都会の喧騒や社会でのキャリアから離れて自分の内側に潜っていき、そしてまた浮上して日常へと戻っていく。一連の流れが深い体験となるように素材や色調、照明を細かくコントロールしながら全体をデザインした。（宮地国彦）
Quiet and dignified beauty salon
This project is the interior design of a beauty salon. The project started from a vacant tenant with partial equipment of a former beauty salon. To operate as a members-only and invitation-only store, the interior design had to be renovated and not open to everyone but rather a secret store with privacy in mind.
By making your mind calm and your body healthy, you will experience a sense of well-being. As symbolized by the word “well-being,” keeping oneself calm and healthy is an indicator of happiness in the modern period. The beauty salon is a closed space where the guests undress and care for the body while facing one’s natural self. What is needed in such a place is not a flamboyantly decorated space but one which is quiet and introspective with a sense of elegance.
The building is facing the main street with a narrow frontage that is elongated towards the back. While a street-level store with a large opening on the street side is generally an advantage, it is a disadvantage when aiming to create a store with privacy. Therefore, a wall was erected on the inside to block the view from the outside, and a small approach was created as a buffer zone to separate the outside world from the inside. The lounge, which is a square-shaped space, is entirely covered with walnut wood-style walls and divided into an even grid to create a space of tranquillity and dignity.
In the private room where the treatment takes place, the same walnut tone is used as the base color to create a calming palette. Space is enveloped in soft and warm lighting. The VIP room, intended for use by pairs, has been integrated from the original two rooms into one large space with a sauna and bath.
The purpose of the space is to create an environment where people can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and their careers in society, dive inside themselves, and then surface again to return to their daily lives. Space was designed with detailed control of materials, color tones, and lighting to make a profound experience. (Kunihiko Miyachi)
