敷地は、大阪市内の私鉄沿線に広がる比較的低層な戸建住宅地に位置する。東側と南側には住宅が隣接し視界、採光を遮る一方、北側には緑豊かな公園に面し明るく開けた見晴らしが展開している。ここでは、この恵まれた周辺環境をいかにして生活空間に取り込み、さらに新しい街並みとして提示できるかが大きなテーマとなった。
1階には寝室などのプライベート諸室を、2階にはリビング・ダイニング・キッチンとそれを取り巻くテラスを、公園を見下ろすかたちで配置し、これら諸室のみならずアプローチを兼ねた駐車スペースをも覆う鉄骨による大きく軽やかな屋根を架けることとした。この大きな軒下空間は、テラスや2層のヴォリュームをもつ駐車スペースなどの半外部空間を介して外部と内部空間の連続性をつくり出すと同時に、住宅の一部とも街並みの一部とも呼びうる公共性の高いセミパブリック空間をつくり出すことに成功した。
道路側や隣接する住宅側に対して、視線を遮るべく適度に配置した壁、2階のリビング空間からの公園側への開放、そしてこれらを包む大きな屋根、ここで試みたこの3つの手法によって、この周辺環境を最大限に取り込んだ、豊かな住処と新しい街並みを創出できたと考えている。（吉田 豊）
A house that invites the streetscape with a space under the eaves that stretches
The site is located in a relatively low-rise detached residential area along a private railway line in Osaka City. On the east and south sides of the site are adjacent houses that block the view and lighting, while on the north side is a park with lush greenery and a bright open view. The main theme of this project was how to incorporate this blessed surrounding environment into the living space and present it as a new townscape.
On the first floor are the bedrooms and other private rooms, and on the second floor are the living room, dining room, kitchen, and surrounding terrace, all overlooking the park. This large space under the eaves creates a continuity between the outside and the inside through the semi-external spaces such as the terrace and the two-story volume parking space, and at the same time succeeds in creating a highly public semi-public space that can be called a part of the house and a part of the streetscape.
The walls are appropriately placed to block the view to the road and the adjacent houses, the living space on the second floor is open to the park, and the large roof wraps around the living space. With these three techniques, I have created a rich living space and a new townscape that takes in the surrounding environment to the maximum extent. (Yutaka Yoshida)
