玉東町の家 / 大野アトリエ

稜線のような屋根をもち景観と一体となる家

熊本県玉名郡玉東町に計画されたこの家は当初夫婦2名での住まいであった。トライアスリートでもある夫のために、トレーニングの場と2人が快適に住める地の利を活かした開放感のある住まいをプランした。
広々としたみかん畑の景観がのどかに感じる素敵な空気を大事に、開口部は基本的には木製建具を使い、すべて壁に納まるかたちの開放感を演出している。
途中で素敵なお話が。家族が増えて3人での生活になったため、急遽設計変更し将来の子供室を埋め込みんだが、外観には変更は加えなかった。

デザインするうえで周辺の景観とマッチさせるため、後ろに見える山の稜線に合わせて屋根はムクリをつけ、ムクリを利用してリビングの空間を膨らませた。空間はなるべく特定された使い方にせず、多用途に使えるよう農家のようなつくりにしている。

構造体も基本すべて「見える」ようにしている。将来の改修やメンテナンス時に容易なことと、問題点の特定が瞬時にわかること。何よりも日本的な構造美が見える住まいにしたかったのである。（大野鶴夫）

House with a ridge-like roof that becomes one with the landscape

This house, planned for Gyokuto-machi, Tamana-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture, was initially intended for a couple. For the husband, who is also a triathlete, we planned a house with a sense of openness, taking advantage of the location to provide a place for training and comfortable home for the two of them.
The spacious view of the tangerine orchard was carefully chosen to create a nice, peaceful atmosphere, and wooden fittings were used for openings to create a sense of freedom.
We had a wonderful story to tell along the way. The design was hastily changed to accommodate a future children’s room, but no changes were made to the house’s exterior.

In order to match the surrounding landscape, the roof was made to bulge convexly to match the ridge line of the mountain behind, and the living room space was made to bulge using the bulge of the roof. The space was made to resemble a farmhouse so that it could be used for multiple purposes rather than being used in a specific way as much as possible.

The structure is basically “visible” as well. This is to facilitate future renovations and maintenance and make it easy to identify problems instantly. But, above all, we wanted to create a house in which the beauty of the Japanese structure could be seen. (Tsuruo Ohno)
