糸島の別荘 / twha

家族の集合場所となる、開放的な海沿いの別荘

玄海国定公園の西端に位置し、玄界灘に⾯した海の⼀望できる敷地である。建主はカナダ在住で、⽗は千葉、⺟は福岡、妹は東京と、それぞれに異なる拠点で⽣活されている。幼少期に家族が⼀緒に過ごしたこの地にもう⼀度家族の集える場をつくろうと、既存建屋の建て替え依頼をいただいた。

必要諸室のボリュームを少しずつ雁⾏させ、そのズレによってすべての部屋から海が眺められるように各室を配置した。奥まった⼭⼿側でも床⾯を1段⾼くすることで、より広い海⾯と⽔平線が眺められる断⾯構成とした。海岸線から離れるほど、海の広がりと奥⾏きを直感的に感じることができる空間である。海や森の⾒える西面と南面は神殿のように開放的に、東面と北面は壁を多くして洞のように閉鎖的に、朝⽇の⼊る寝室・日中明るいテラス・⼣⽇の落ちるリビングなど自然の移ろいと暮らしが共にある。

異なるライフスタイルをもつ1つの家族が、時には同時に、時には⼊れ違いに⾃分たちのスタイルで余暇を過ごす。この糸島の家で過ごした時間は、自然の移ろいと共に、家族に共有される1冊のアルバムのようである。空間そのものが記憶を宿し、家族の繋がりをかたちづくる。それは、成長の記録が刻まれた柱を見て懐かしむように、より身近な建築の可能性を再考察した。（中園美博）

An open villa by the sea that serves as a family gathering place

The site is located at the western edge of Genkai National Park, overlooking the sea at the Genkainada Sea. The owner lives in Canada with his father in Chiba, his mother in Fukuoka, and his sister in Tokyo. We were asked to rebuild the existing building to create a place where the family could gather again in the same place where they spent their childhood together.

The necessary volumes of the various rooms were gradually moved to a more horizontal position, and the rooms were arranged so that the sea could be seen from all the rooms. Raising the floor on the far side of the house increases the floor to a higher level, allowing for a broader view of the ocean and the waterline. The further one moves away from the coastline, the more one can intuitively feel the expanse and depth of the ocean. The west and south sides, where the sea and forest can be seen, are open like a temple, while the east and north sides are closed like a cave with many walls.

A family with different lifestyles spends their leisure time in their own style, sometimes at the same time, sometimes in other places. The time spent in this Itoshima house is like an album the family shares, along with the changing nature. The space itself holds memories and forms a family connection. This is a reconsideration of the possibilities of architecture that is more familiar to us as if we were nostalgically looking at a pillar on which a record of our growth has been engraved.
