空を切り取るスキップフロアの住宅 

小山の稜線と畑にひらけた敷地に建つ、延べ床26.3坪の住宅である。周囲の景色や将来的な環境の変化を考え、”空を切り取ること”をテーマに設計した。空は変わらない風景として、日常の暮らしの中でいつも目にする大切な風景となっている。

住宅の特徴は、片流れ屋根と半地下の構成である。屋根は単なる形の選択ではなく、内部から空を見上げる視線を導く装置として機能する。一方、半地下は街並みに圧迫感を与えないよう建物の高さを抑え、外壁面積も調整している。この2つの工夫が、結果としてスキップフロアという立体的な空間構成を自然に生み出した。

スキップフロアは、狭小住宅で「空間の遊び」として扱われることもあるが、本計画では単なる演出ではなく、屋根形態や街並みへの配慮、家族の距離感といった設計上の要請をまとめる論理的手段として位置づけている。階層のずれによって内部空間は繋がりながらも緩やかに分かれ、近すぎず遠すぎず、心地よい距離感を生み出す。また、屋根による空の切り取りや半地下による街並みとの調和なども組み合わさり、スキップフロアは住まいの快適性や生活体験の質を高める必然的な手法として機能している。

窓にはブラインドを設けず、光や景色をそのまま取り入れているが、外部との関係を調整し、プライバシーも確保している。

浴室やトイレも従属的な空間ではなく、住宅全体の一部として丁寧に計画した。
タイル張りのハーフユニットバスや開放的なトイレは、限られた面積の中でも居場所の多様性を増し、空間に豊かな表情を与えている。

A skip-floor house that cuts through the sky 

This residence, spanning 26.3 tsubo of floor space, sits on a site open to the ridgelines and fields of a small hill. Designed with the theme of “cutting out the sky,” it considers the surrounding scenery and potential future environmental changes. The sky, as an unchanging landscape, becomes a cherished view always present in daily life.

The home’s defining features are its single-slope roof and semi-basement structure. The roof is not merely a stylistic choice but also a device that guides the gaze upward to the sky from within. Meanwhile, the semi-basement lowers the building’s height and adjusts the exterior wall area to avoid imposing on the neighborhood. These two design elements naturally gave rise to a three-dimensional spatial composition known as a split-level floor.

While split-level floors are sometimes treated as a “playful spatial element” in compact homes, this project positions them not merely as a design gimmick, but as a logical means to integrate design requirements: the roof form, consideration for the neighborhood, and the family’s sense of distance. The staggered levels connect the interior spaces while gently dividing them, creating a comfortable distance—neither too close nor too distant. Combined with the roof-framing views of the sky and the semi-basement harmonizing with the streetscape, the skip floor serves as an essential technique that enhances the home’s comfort and the quality of daily life.

Windows feature no blinds, allowing light and views to enter directly, while carefully managing the relationship with the exterior and ensuring privacy.

Bathrooms and toilets are not treated as subordinate spaces but are carefully planned as integral parts of the entire residence.
The tiled half-unit bath and open toilet add variety to the limited area, giving the space a rich character.
