築38年の木造2階建住宅をリノベーションした計画である。
外部は駐車スペース確保のため玄関周りを一部減築し、それに伴って2階を斜材で支持する構成としたことで、特徴的な外観となった。
内部では既存の柱や梁、小屋組みを現し、建物がもつ歴史や痕跡を空間の中に取り込んでいる。細かく仕切られ暗かった室内は、壁の整理と大きな吹き抜けの挿入によって、光や風が抜ける開放的な空間へと変化した。吹き抜けを介して1階の素材感や空気感は2階へと広がり、断面的にも家族間の境界を緩やかに繋いでいる。

A residence layering light and wind into the building's history
This project involves renovating a 38-year-old two-story wooden house.
To secure a parking space, part of the area around the entrance was reduced externally. Consequently, the second floor was supported by diagonal bracing, creating a distinctive exterior appearance.
Inside, existing columns, beams, and roof trusses were exposed, integrating the building’s history and traces into the space. The previously compartmentalized and dark interior was transformed into an open space, allowing light and air to flow through, achieved by reorganizing walls and inserting an ample double-height space. The materiality and atmosphere of the first floor extend to the second floor through the double-height space, also gently connecting family members in a cross-sectional sense.
