埼玉県狭山市郊外のスーパーマーケットの敷地内に建てられた、アイウエアブランドJINSのロードサイド店舗である。緩やかな勾配の切妻屋根をもつ木造の建物を計画した。
建物の構造は、建設コストや施工の容易性を考慮し在来軸組工法を採用した。什器寸法や通路幅などから割り出された2.35×4.2mのグリットを基準とすることで、柱が動線や什器レイアウトを妨げることのない計画となっている。 柱や梁、野地板といった木部の現しに床のモルタルや壁面塗装のグレーの組み合わせ、そこに差し色として金属部の錆止塗装の赤茶色を加えている。南北に設けた開口部を大きく取ることで、明るく透明感のある空間を実現している。
装飾的な処理ではなく、木質の温かみや無機質なグレー、透明感など建築的な要素を最大限活かすことで、シンプルで居心地のよい商空間となることを目指した。（松葉邦彦）
A transparent commercial space created by an orderly wooden structure
This is a roadside store for the eyewear brand JINS, built on the premises of a supermarket in the suburbs of Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture. The building is a wooden structure with a gently sloping gable roof.
Conventional frame construction was adopted for the building structure in consideration of construction cost and ease of construction. The plan is based on a grid of 2.35 x 4.2 m, which was determined based on the dimensions of the fixtures and the width of the aisles so that the pillars do not interfere with the flow lines or the layout of the fixtures. The wood parts, such as columns, beams, and baseboards, are exposed, and the floor mortar and walls are painted gray, with the addition of rust-proof paint on metal parts in reddish brown. The large openings on the north and south sides of the building create a bright and transparent space.
The goal was to create a simple and comfortable commercial space by maximizing architectural elements such as the warmth of wood, inorganic gray, and transparency rather than decorative treatments. (Kunihiko Matsuba)
