房総半島の中央部に位置する長南町の丘陵地。周囲を森で囲まれた広大な敷地に建つ広いアウトドアリビングとプールのある平屋の別荘の計画である。
都内に住むクライアント家族は自然豊かな房総半島で週末を過ごし、大好きなプールや海、果樹栽培、房総の魚介を使った料理を親しい方々と楽しむ拠点としての別荘の計画をスタートした。
丘陵地を段状に造成された敷地は東、南、西を緑豊かな森で囲まれ、北側は交通量の少ない道路に接道している。屋外での時間や食事を楽しむことが好きなクライアントのために、プールに面した屋根のあるゆったりとした広さのアウトドアリビングを中心に、各部屋から豊かな森の景色を楽しむことができる弓形の平面形状が導き出された。
エントランスのドアを開けホールに入ると、正面の大きな窓からアウトドアリビングとプールの景色が広がる。アウトドアリビングは約50m²の広さがあり、ダイニングセットとソファをゆったりと配置することができる。プールと一体的な利用が可能で、大人数での食事やパーティにも対応できるように計画されている。また、専用のキッチンと倉庫が用意されている。
建物東側には、薪ストーブのあるリビングダイニングと大人数での作業も可能な高出力のガスレンジとオーブンのあるキッチン。隣の主寝室には専用のシャワールームとクローゼットが用意されている。
建物西側には2つのゲストルームと仕事部屋と倉庫、景色を楽しみながら入浴できるバスルームを配置している。各室の南側にはバルコニーがあり、アウトドアリビングやプールにもアクセスすることができる。また、エントランスホールの両脇には納戸と家事室を配置しキッチンまでの裏動線も確保されている。
建物と同じガルバリウム鋼板の屋根と外壁で外観が統一された別棟のガレージ棟には、2台の駐車スペースと主人のための作業部屋が用意されている。
特徴的な弓型の切妻屋根と妻側の外壁は耐久性の高いガルバリウム鋼板の竪ハゼ葺きで、雨がかりのない外壁は窯業系スレート葺きとしている。屋根、外壁とも通気工法を採用すると共に遮熱性能のある屋根防水、透湿防水シートを使用している。南側の庇は1.4ｍの深さがあり、夏の日射を遮り冬季は室内の奥まで日射を導入するように計画されている。
省エネルギー性能の義務化を見越し、断熱等性能等級4と同等の断熱性能を確保している。屋根には120mm・壁には60mmの高性能な現場発泡硬質ウレタンフォームを、床下には50mmの押し出しポリスチレンフォームの断熱層と通気層を設け、開口部にはアルミ樹脂複合サッシとペアガラス採用している。（富岡真一郎）
A villa with a bowed gable roof that enjoys natural scenery on three sides
Located in the hills of Chonan Town, in the center of the Boso Peninsula, this is a plan for a one-story villa with a large outdoor living room and swimming pool, built on a vast site surrounded by forest.
The client’s family, who live in Tokyo, started planning the villa as a base for spending weekends in the nature-rich Boso Peninsula, enjoying their favorite swimming pool, the sea, fruit cultivation, and cooking with their close friends using seafood from the Boso area.
The terraced hillside site is surrounded by lush forest to the east, south, and west and is bordered on the north by a road with little traffic. For the client, who enjoys spending time outdoors and dining, an arched floor plan was derived, centered around a spacious outdoor living room with a roof facing the pool, where each room enjoys a view of the lush forest. Upon opening the entrance door and entering the hall, the view of the outdoor living room and pool spreads through the large window in front of the house. The outdoor living room is approximately 50m² and can be comfortably furnished with a dining set and sofa. It can be used as an integral part of the pool and is planned to accommodate large meals and parties. In addition, a private kitchen and storage room are provided.
On the east side of the building is a living/dining room with a wood-burning stove and a kitchen with a high-powered gas range and oven capable of working with a large group. The master bedroom next door has a shower room and closet.
On the west side of the building are two guest rooms, a workroom and storage room, and a bathroom for bathing while enjoying the view. A balcony on the south side of each room provides access to outdoor living and the pool. In addition, a storage room and a housekeeping room are located on either side of the entrance hall, providing a backflow to the kitchen.
A separate garage wing, with the same galvanized steel roof and exterior walls as the building, provides two parking spaces and a workroom for the master.
The distinctive bow-shaped gable roof and gable side exterior walls are made of durable galvalume steel sheet with a pitched gable roof, while the exterior walls, which are not exposed to rain, are made of ceramic slate. Both the roof and exterior walls are ventilated, and the roof is waterproofed with heat shielding and moisture-permeable waterproofing sheets. The eaves on the south side are 1.4m deep and are designed to block the sunlight in summer and allow it to penetrate deep into the house in winter.
In anticipation of mandatory energy conservation performance, insulation performance equivalent to Insulation Performance Grade 4 is secured. The high-performance in-situ rigid polyurethane foam of 120mm is used for the roof and 60mm for the walls. A 50mm extruded polystyrene foam insulation layer and ventilation layer are installed under the floor, and aluminum-plastic composite sashes and double glazing are used for the openings.
