神戸市垂水区桃山台。六甲の山裾と明石海峡の気配が混ざり合う、高台の住宅街。
この土地には、道路との高低差や建築基準法による厳しい制限があった。しかし、その制約こそが、この家独自の形と街へのゆとりを導き出す手掛かりとなった。
周囲の視線を遮るため、リビングは高低差を活かしたプライベートな高さに配置。見上げれば、7mの吹き抜けにある大きな窓から、切り取られた青空が広がる。
吹き抜けが繋ぐ1階と2階。家族がどこにいても、お互いの気配をなんとなく感じられる。そんな「程よい距離感」で、誰もが自由に、心地よく過ごせる居場所を目指した。

A house that frames the sky and brings the family together
Momoyamadai, Tarumi Ward, Kobe. A residential neighborhood on a hilltop where the foothills of Mount Rokko blend with the atmosphere of the Akashi Strait.
This site presented challenges, including a significant elevation difference from the road and strict restrictions under the Building Standards Act. However, it was precisely these constraints that shaped this home’s unique form and created a sense of spaciousness within the neighborhood.
To shield the home from neighbors’ view, the living room is situated at a private, elevated level that takes advantage of the elevation difference. Looking up, a large window in the 7-meter-high atrium frames a sweeping view of the blue sky.
The atrium connects the first and second floors. No matter where family members are, they can sense each other’s presence. We aimed to create a space where everyone can live freely and comfortably, maintaining that “just right” sense of distance.
